Superbowl wins:

Doug Pederson - 1
All other Eagles coaches combined - 0

Maybe you trust the guy knows more than you.

And talking about HFA after week four is just retarded. Might as well start game planning for your potential Super Bowl opponent... can never start too soon. Who do you think wins the AFC after we get home field and dominate the NFC? I guess you could start a thread about that idiocy as well.

Only thing you say that we can agree on is that Jalen Mills sucks. So does Darby and most of the rest of our secondary. Jenkins is great, but looks a little slower this year. But our corners are overly reliant on the front 4 getting home. They play 20 yard cushions and still get beat on double moves multiple times per game. Christ the one play last game was a lazily run post and Mills wasn't within 5 yards of the guy when he dropped the pass. That sticks coverage on 4th and 15 had the left side of the D completely flat footed and nowhere close to a receiver. Why not run a normal defense there? Oh well, if you opponent completes a 4th and 15 to keep the game alive, you deserve to lose.

minus a random negative comment here and there, i've been giving pederson a lot of credit since early last year for adapting and great coaching. even though it's questionable how much of that was connected to the staff at the time, i still give him the credit for the moves.

my biggest issue related to him is when he goes andy reid and refuses to run the ball, like last week. these are legit complaints/observations that are almost always backed up by writers, non homer fans, etc.

as for homefield advantage, i really don't comprehend what the hell is so hard to follow. no one said it guarantees anything. but it does greatly assist a team in their push for a championship. that should have easily been the eagles #1 goal for this season. you know you're the best team in the division and one of the best in the NFL.. you're playing to set yourself up at home.

could this eagles team go into LA, green bay, new orleans and win? of course. would the odds be in their favor? no. would they be able to do it back to back weeks? highly unlikely. would the eagles have won or even made it to the superbowl last year if they had to play a couple of road games? again, highly unlikely.

barring some extreme shit luck and/or play, this team is going to the playoffs. that 100% puts the focus on their seeding. and they just fucked up royally last week by choking a game away numerous times. the fact that it's only week 5 has no bearing on that.

if we don't catch fire now, then i fully expect to head into the postseason with 9-11 wins and lose a tough game on the road. then fans will be saying how we just weren't good enough.. which will be bullshit. it will come down to the fact we couldn't secure home field, where we dominate. it's how we won last year, and how we'll win again. aside from that meaningless dallas game at the end of last year.. we haven't lost at home since december of 2016.

Considering how many injuries we have had, I am ok with not getting HFA this year. We won't win every SB, but as long as we have Carson Wentz, we will be in the running.

That's assuming that Carson stays healthy. He needs to prove that first.

overreact? the mass percentage of fans in any sport are just monday morning quarterbacks (no pun intended) who live game to game, or in this case week to week. simply incapable of grasping future indicators, scenarios and such. that's not me.

and this is one of the rare times i actually get agitated when discussing sports. if fans want to live by this approach, have a ball. i'm not going to knock or belittle people's opinions for it. but i can't fucking stand when those people do the reverse.

making the postseason isn't an accomplishment for this team. they are playing for a championship. and if they don't get home field advantage, the odds start declining rapidly. i don't need to justify the danger in this just because it's week 5 and most people can't think beyond a 7 day window.

We might win the division at 8-8, but that's the only consolation. This season is a disaster.
We have a stud QB, and a TE. We have a good DT. The rest of the team is very mediocre.
Thank God we will get a lot of cap room after Howie cuts many veterans. Peters is old, and Johnson is very soft. (He needs PEDS to get stronger). So, once again we need a stud WR, stud RB to compete.

When I said I April that they needed to draft a stud wide receiver, I was laughed at.
They need a better RB. To fumble the ball without even being touched is embarrassing.
I have to say this EVERY week. Too many penalties. To have TWO penalties for illegal formation, is disgraceful.
They don't appear to be playing with a lot of intensity. This loss BETTER be a wake up call because if they lose to the Giants, the season may well be over.

if you notice, i rarely post. and i believe i previously requested you do NOT reply to me in any manner because you add nothing to the discussion. the majority of the few posts i make are generally related to homefield advantage, doug pederson and jalen mills.

i've been saying for years now the only way mills should be playing corner on this team is for emergency/extremely minimal situations at best. he's a poor man's carey williams and he will keep costing the eagles game after game.

i've also been stating the importance of close games and home field, especially last year. anyone with common sense knows how much it benefited the eagles. without it, the odds of reaching the superbowl were slim. and we're in a dangerous spot right now despite the fact it's just week 5.

am i somehow wrong? yet, you feel the need to ride my ass about legit eagles talk. you're as bad as eaglesnut with his blind homerism and pederson love affair.

Hey guys. Just stopped by to say this clown is an asshole.

Have a great week everyone.

No one is laughing now. John. You are right on. It is amazing that the team is stupid to think they can just waltz through the league after winning the SB.

This season looks nothing like last season. Poor play across the board with a few exceptions. Poor play calling again with some exceptions. Soft CB play. Inconsistent defensive play. Inconsistent OLine play.
The Eagles simply miss Reich and Flip and Schwartz seems to have changed the defense.
All across the board the Eagles are playing at an unacceptable level and that includes the coaching.

They should make some changes on offensive play calling. More running plays are needed.

the huge difference to me is the coaching. we could, and really should be, 4-1 right now. after the chiefs loss last year, someone (who knows now if it was actually pederson) focused on a balanced attack and we were able to close out every tough game.

that focus is gone. they went to the run one series yesterday and marched down the field. unfortunately, ajayi fumbled and that was the end of the running game. but when wentz is throwing picks, getting stripped and sacked.. apparently that doesn't matter.

well, you only have 478 posts dude. to be taken serious here, you need 21000 posts over a couple of years. you also have to insult random posters and act like you control what can be discussed. then, and only then, will you have the knowledge to post about your own team.

I am most worried about the offensive line at this point. Benching Wis looks like a mistake and he uncharacteristically said some stuff about it afterwards. It seems to be he is suggesting that he was a scapegoat for the larger failures of the line, and guys like Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce and Jason Peters who are also struggling but are "sacred cows" for the front office. I suspect he is right. But either way, Wentz is taking WAY too many hits and that is the biggest reason we are 2-3.

i'm not worried about the eagles making the playoffs. the division is weak and we're playing mediocre at best to start the year. so we're still in great shape to win the east. however, you're not winning 3 playoff games (with possibly all 3 on the road) and then taking the superbowl.

i said last year the carolina game was a must win for homefield. a lot of people disagreed, but it turned out to be huge. if carolina had won, both teams would have been 12-3 going into the final game. we were able to get the bye and had favorable matchups against the falcons and vikings. it was all set up nicely for the superbowl run.

this year, we already have 2 losses.. with minnesota, carolina and jacksonville in the next 4 weeks. just one loss is a huge blow to homefield. the rams are already 4-0. the saints are 3-1. the pack 2-1-1.

unless some really bad shit happens to the rams, they are in the drivers seat for the #1 seed. if the eagles don't wake up and push hard for the #2.. there's almost no chance for a repeat. that's just reality.

unfortunately, i don't like the running game. i think the rest of the season is going to be super pass happy, which is going to expose the defense because of turnovers and time of possession. if i had to guess, a 10-6 record and early playoff exit.
Well if the path to the playoffs is through the east (it most likely is) then the first game would be at home. None of the other teams will run away with the division.
