I heard about that. The guy on CBS sports radio was talking about it and he pointed out that according to regulations people can't work in noises above 155 decibels or something like that and thought it would be funny if they had to pull them off the field because of noise violations.

Eh, one thing about trying to break the loudest crowd noise, another thing to just have it happen lol.

Yeah, we got the winning part down. Now we're working on some other things.

But since you're a Lions fan, I wouldn't expect you to get that :laugh3:

I said that on another forum back when this story first came up and I was told I was a negative nellie for saying it. This is the kind of thing that has to be spontaneous. While I do think that this game is probably our best chance at breaking the record in a regular season game, given the combination of factors involved, it still comes across as a stunt and is sure to bring with it the "is the crowd noise in Seattle supplemented by stadium speakers" nonsense again, if it hasn't already been brought up. We already know we have the loudest fans in the league. We don't need a record in a book telling us what we already know.

If you guys break the record, Harbs might call the NFL offices and ask them to reinstate the penalty for excessive noise, just like the good ole days in the Kingdome.

It would be interesting to know what the highest noise level has ever been in the stadium. Was it the TD by Lynch vs New Orleans? Was it a playoff game?

Basically, do the more spontaneous reactions get better results or is it a matter of just trying to be loud at one time?

I was at the Rams game during the KR for TD sideline run by Nate Burelson with him doing the hawk dirty bird celebration after. I couldn't even hear myself think as that occurred. It was freaking deafening. That game was one of my all time favs there.

The Romo botched snap home vid taken from the stands really demonstrates how loud we go.

BeastMode earthquake run.

The loudest the crowd has ever gotten has to be during a playoff game. I'm sure Beast Quake ranks near the top of the list if it isn't at the top.

I would think so too, which leads to questioning whether a set up like they're trying to do is even worth trying. The passion won't be there. It has to be natural and organic IMO, not just some guy on the loudspeaker pregame telling everyone to yell as loud as they can on 3.

I would argue we already broke the record. In order to obtain the official record, we have to go this route. Maybe it would have been better not to announce it to keep it spontaneous, but I look forward to the challenge. Even if we don't get the record, watching Kaep get flustered will be fun.

I'm sure we at least came close at some point if we didn't break it, even if it was unofficial when we did it. I agree that it shouldn't have been announced to begin with. The focus should be on the 49ers, not some record. I see people complain occasionally about how cheering already seems more scripted and less spontaneous than it used to be because of the pleas for noise by the teams on their scoreboards/jumbotrons and the amped up party music that blares from the speakers all the time. This would seem to follow that pattern of "Okay... go ahead and cheer now". If they hadn't announced that this was happening, it would have been more of an accomplishment when we broke the record.
