No question the fans are great. I just think the "noise competition" is kind of lame.

I agree completely. Especially if it is contrived as you say. If they are prompting people to make noise then it is just a group of people making noise because. Cool that both fans are loud but the record is pointless.

The whole thing is a gimmick for GBWR. And I said this originally when Seattle "broke" the record.

Like others have said above, both fanbases are highly passionate and know when to be loud. Hopefully the Seattle group leaves it alone and doesn't bring them back again.

Right. I've only been to 1 college football game. Not really my thing.

Where did you see that game? If you're into passionate crowds, you're doing yourself an injustice by not going to college games. Try out a game at the Horseshoe, Death Valley, Camp Randall, Autzen, or the Swamp. The fans there are as loyal or more than any NFL fanbase you'll find, and they cheer their asses off.

Best fans I have seen were the Huskers in Memorial Stadium. I saw 90 year olds standing the whole game cheering. Essentially the whole state of Nebraska shuts down during Husker games.

I was at the SF-Sea game (the first one in September) last year when they broke the record the first time and I don't recall any prompting on the big screen or announcements to all yell at once. It seemed like the record came naturally during some big play in the game. If the stadiums are doing a "1..2...3....YELL!!" kind of thing then that would be a glorified yelling contest and would be pretty lame. If it comes naturally then it's fine. I'm pretty sure that KC and Seattle both got to those levels naturally and without any prompting.

Whether or not you think it's lame doesn't matter. Both cities now will continue to try to get the record each time they get a big game where they think there's a shot at it. Who cares? It's fun and it's just adding a little rivalry between the two fan bases. Currently KC gets bragging rights. Congrats.

Congrats to the Chiefs. Great fan base there.

What was even better was the Nigerian Nightmare banging the drum. The worst was Pats getting taken to the woodshed. Last beating like that I remember was the 85 SB with da Bears

Yeah, that's another one. I wasn't making a comprehensive list of every great college stadium, just pointing out the first couple that came to mind.

I figured so...was just throwing out another if the guy wants to experience some of the greatest stadiums in the country. Truly NFL stadiums just don't compare to that of the college experience and I am a bigger NFL fan than college.

Good for them.

Kind of a pissing contest at this point. I hope Seattle lets it die.

I also hope Seattle goes into Arrow head and beats the hell out of them later this year. Last game I remember Seattle playing IN KC was back when Warren Moon was still throwing the rock around for Seattle, it was the biggest rain storm ive ever seen. Water literally flowing out of the stands, couldn't pass the ball at all. Crazy stuff.

Seattle won't let it go and neither will KC at this point. Media types won't allow it to go away either. Any time a game is played in either stadium it comes up over and over and over again.

I think I read that the Century Link has plans to add approx. 6500 more seats in one endzone that will be made of steel and are supposed to be loud as hell when people stomp on them. Anyone else hear this rumor?

Yeah I hear that LSU is crazy esp with the stands vibrating with all the banging. That one I would put on my bucket list

I'm looking forward to going to Arrowhead to see this insanity first hand. I'm curious how it compares to the the CLink.

I have been to both and once you get the noise over a certain level it does not make a big difference.

Great job to the awesome fan base in KC.

I hope Seattle lets it go and never tries again. We know what we have.
Stadium design or not, the Feeling at CenturyLink is electric, as it is in MANY OTHER stadiums too.

Go Hawks

Spoken perfectly.

KC has a solid fan base. Arrowhead has always been loud.

Crowd noise has a lot to do with how stadiums are built though.
Correct, the sound systems must be full integrated into the architectural plan to maximize the effectiveness. Kinda like Indy when Goober was racking up all those meaningless stats in the American wasteland.

I couldn't help but notice that it is the teams that have sucked for ..............well forever that pretend that noise makes them better at what they do.

There's been a few others between then and now and it happens to pretty much any team, but the lack of discipline and execution by the Pats is disturbing at best..

Noise is always secondary to the product on the field. Why is Seattle so damn dominant at home? No, it is not really the crowd, save me the false starts argument, it's because the team is really good. Also, there's like social facilitation and stuff that is inherent to playing at home in sports- noise not included (or is it sold separately?).

I mean, my goodness, KC lost four straight times at home coming into this game.
