I know it's beautiful in the Pacific Northwest, but tell me has the suicide rate in the Seattle / Tacoma area gone down any? Your area still the suicide capital of the Country? May have gone down a little since the Seahawks are playing better ball. I know people here in L.A. who tell me they escaped from Seattle, never to go back. Actually, there is no comparison between L.A and Seattle as a place to work and live. Sorry one or some of you had to bring City assination into the conversation. Seattle loses that arguement hands down, sorry but that's the way it is. To prove my point there are far more Seattleits living in L.A. than Angelinoes living in Seattle. Stay dry guys.

Uh actually there is,white flight and middle and upper income people have been leaving southern California for years now (More upper and middle class people are leaving California than coming in),cities are declaring bankruptcy and more to follow.

I posted this at a economics site that i belong to,,,last year and many people that USED to live in California echoed it.

Joel Kotkin: The Great California Exodus
A leading U.S. demographer and 'Truman Democrat' talks about what is driving the middle class out of the Golden State.

Meanwhile, taxes are harming the private economy. According to the Tax Foundation, California has the 48th-worst business tax climate. Its income tax is steeply progressive. Millionaires pay a top rate of 10.3%, the third-highest in the country. But middle-class workers—those who earn more than $48,000—pay a top rate of 9.3%, which is higher than what millionaires pay in 47 states.

And Democrats want to raise taxes even more. Mind you, the November ballot initiative that Mr. Brown is spearheading would primarily hit those whom Democrats call "millionaires" (i.e., people who make more than $250,000 a year). Some Republicans have warned that it will cause a millionaire march out of the state, but Mr. Kotkin says that "people who are at the very high end of the food chain, they're still going to be in Napa. They're still going to be in Silicon Valley. They're still going to be in West L.A."

[BCalifornia used to be more like Texas—a jobs magnet. What happened? For one, says the demographer, Californians are now voting more based on social issues and less on fiscal ones than they did when Ronald Reagan was governor 40 years ago. Environmentalists are also more powerful than they used to be. And Mr. Brown facilitated the public-union takeover of the statehouse by allowing state workers to collectively bargain during his first stint as governor in 1977.

Mr. Kotkin also notes that demographic changes are playing a role. As progressive policies drive out moderate and conservative members of the middle class, California's politics become even more left-wing. It's a classic case of natural selection, and increasingly the only ones fit to survive in California are the very rich and those who rely on government spending. In a nutshell, "the state is run for the very rich, the very poor, and the public employees."][/B]

Let's not stoop to the level of comparing cities and states to one another. California and Washington have some of the most beautiful places on the planet. I lived in Seattle for 8 months as a kid and have family in Spokane and Tacoma. I think getting trolled to the point of bagging on someone's home is fairly childish but whatever, carry on.

I am not bagging really,in a sense, but too many Californians are in denial that the state is going downhill and nothing will stop it,as long as you have public unions and now that the latino population will vote in for more social programs and the lock that the Dems have there it will never change and it will get worse.

California is already like Brazil in a sense, ton's of poor favelas
favelaas.jpg

And then gated community's for the very rich and a shrinking dying middle class that the socialists killed, look in the mirror Californians you voted for happy feely programs and let the third world invade.

Hey, it's just a place. I love northern Cali but don't get up there much as I live in Dallas now. I'm glad I don't live in LA anymore but I do miss certain aspects, such as the beach, mountains etc...

I don't even know where to go with this political garbage. I do know, California is a sinking ship. No question it is beautiful and a great place to visit, but other than that, stay away.

I heard it so it must be true!

As of 2004 Seattle is either #27 or #30 on the suicide rate chart, depending on which ranking you use. LA is #48 on the list. SO has the suicide rate gone down from #27? Not sure, 2004 has the most current numbers that are widely available. Are we the suicide capital of the country? Not by a long shot. That would be Las Vegas obviously, and has a rate more than 3 times higher than Seattle.

This article also has homicide rates by city too. LA is either #19 or #23, depending on which ranking you want to use. Seattle is #46, and 3 times less than LA. Good post though. Stay safe guy.

Pete did the crime but refused to do the time. He went running to Seattle like a whore with money running from her pimp. Why don't you try putting some grapes in that salad with all those apples in oranges. Try and confuss whats factual by bringing in Spurrier and Saban. Cheating is cheating and nothing you can say will ever change that. It appears that Carroll's propensity for being a diuce bag has boiled over to some of the Seahawks fans. I don't need to tell you who you are as you already know.

And what crime was that?

What a dumbass.

Today he bashes gay people.
Earlier today he bashed our HC.
Lynch, Willson, and a couple of others along with many Seahawk fans were last weeks target.
Whether it is our climate, our location, our coffee, or anything else, his unhealthy obsession in all things Seattle has been over the top for about 3 years as I can tell. He was worse on ESPN though.

He has things in common with Gollum.
