More than the $50 million they lose if they don't do a spring season? (obviously, you can see I haven't thought it all the way through)

Neither has the Big 10 front offices.

You're not alone.

It is unlikely a schedule will be released before the end of September. And the conference doesn't need to. Nebraska is bluffing to appease their fanbase.

Or Nebraska is leading the charge for other Big 10 teams that want to play.

If they can show the Big 10 has contractually ceded it's control OOC, then expect others to follow suit.

Each school gets an equal disbursement of the money given.

Yes, I believe it is $54 million dollars per school. Which is about $4 million per game played.

So why couldn't they allow Fox to make the same agreement with Nebraska, and just split it up among the conference? Even if Nebraska could just get $2 million a game (half of what they are getting now), that could still be $20 million generated for the conference.

If I'm Nebraska I'd take that payout over a questionable spring season that will likely just hurt my team competitively next September. It would be a risk, but money in hand can be better than money promised...especially in this environment.

54 million/14 teams = less than 4 million dollars for Nebraska.

Which again, makes it key, that the season was not cancelled, but rather postponed.

There is nothing to say the season isn't 'postponed' permanently.

The Big 10 is also contractually obligated to provide it's members a football schedule to play.

Where is it?

Contracts work two ways. That is their entire purpose.

It's like many of you have never entered into a contract.

I'm rooting for Nebraska in this fight. I hope they actually take action though and stick it to the Big10. It could start a trend, or it may fail, but awesome try at the very least.

Now it's interesting to see if Nebraska is all talk here, or are they serious?

Please provide a link showing where in the contract the BigTen is required to give 5+ months notice for a football schedule.

No they don't.

Rutgers and Maryland do not (yet).

Rutgers won't get it until 2027.

Contracts matter.

Stop ad-libbing.
