But I do take it you agree with all the allegations around Tennessee sexually assaulting people, hiring a guy connected to the Sandusky thing is too soon.

I guess I can understand that..I guess I just don't understand the all the accusations.

What's to understand? Tennessee was about to hire another Butch Jones, the fanbase saw an out the administration would have to listen to. They used it. It worked.

The AD should have known hiring Schiano wasn't gonna go over well.

I think Schiano will make a decent coach somewhere. Not great but respectable. Wasn't this fanbase the one excited about giving Gruden 10 mil a year just a few weeks ago? That would have been a bigger mistake than Schiano IMO

At this point, what's to make them think they're going to be able to get anything better than that?

Alabama was a dumpster fire and in the same position in 2006 and then they landed Nick Saban and everything changed overnight. Tennessee needs that type of a hire. Basically they need $$$ and someone that knows how to win people over. I wish they would hire me to do this search. I would do it for next to nothing and I would land the guy. The key to closing a deal is to know your facts and be honest and sincere.

I don't see a Nick Saban out there - ie., a coach who is at the top of his game with a recent NC win. They're not getting Saban, Dabo, Urban, or Jimbo. I honestly think the best possible scenario would be if they could somehow lure James Franklin from Penn State, but that seems unlikely. I could see Petrino wind up there, which would be a good start.

The following are realistic candidates I think Tennessee could land: Bill Belichick, Mike Tomlin, Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Doug Pederson, Sean McVay, and Pete Carroll. Did I miss anyone?

Has the AD been fired yet?

You'd think OSU fans would be ecstatic they get their DC back.....unless they really don't want him.

Oh fuck off fake Baylor fan. You're taking your schtick too far. You know damn good and well what occurred there is fucked up and Art Briles doesn't deserve to coach a major college football program ever again. He's made millions, cry me a river for his employment status.

I seem to have upset you

Tom Landry, but you would have to reanimate his corpse.

Not true. Forever, big college programs have paid players, paid parents, hid r*pe allegations, hid assaults, educated people Aaron Hernandez while a fanbase stood up and said they didn't want any part of his alleged history just for wins. It wasn't but 2-3 years ago that Tennessee was in the news for being bad at football and having players allegedly r*pe people. Win for the good guys. He may be innocent but it's not worth the risk for winning football games. The people who fund the school with the largest revenue in the SEC spoke out and won.

Yeah, this is really unprecedented, and I give the UT fans all kinds of credit for saying "we need to have SOME standards."

The problem is, you might still want to win football games, and this business is dirty, dirty, dirty. There comes a point where you will have to start splitting hairs over which dirty practices you're more willing to accept - or maybe we're already there?
