Its going to be interesting tracking what the Bears do this off-season.
I agree!!

There are several teams that will make this off-season compelling.

1. Green Bay
2. Baltimore
3. L.A Raiders
4. N.Y Jets
5. Chicago
6. New Orleans
And if you're interested in re-runs...
7. Washington

i feel he could be a good qb but lets be real the jury is still out on this one
I don't disagree but my perspective on late-round QBs is certainly well-established by now. He like any other QB deserves his shot at the job here in D.C. . I cannot disagree with that at all. So in the now infamous words of good ole' Jim Zorn as we go about the business of evaluating Sam Howell "Don't get too high and don't get too low or down, stay medium.":D

I agree! After all, in a team sport, he alone is a 3 win QB!!:L (what's to get excited about?)

Bottom line, if Fields and Howell were both on the roster right now, who would start?
It would be Fields and its not even close.

Who will eventually be better in the long run? Nobody knows. What we do know is that Fields is more talented; however, the more talented player isn't always better.

If EB wants Fields, we should get him. The Bears would be foolish to let Fields go; therefore, I believe that is exactly what they will do.

Trevor Lawrence will be much better than Fields. Hell he is already much better.

Just look at Ohio State QBs in the draft.

I know you want to the team trade for Fields. lol. EB said he likes Howell. That has to mean something.
Mike Tyson once said that “Everyone has a plan ’till they get punched in the mouth.” ... That has to mean something too!

of course. Jury is still out on Fields too
True but the preliminary hearing has determined that causation was due to negligence... the primary reason why nearly all high-end QBs fail, including those who've attended Ohio State. (They go to very bad organizations)

That is one option but it's extremely rare that a one-for-one trade involving a DL and QB has ever happened. They would probably want a little something extra thrown in, but I'm not sure what that would be. There's no doubt that this is going to be the biggest decision that the Bears have to make since firing Mike Ditka. (1993)

For the record, there are two things that I don't want our team to continue doing.

1. botching prime assets and allowing them to leave without getting real value in return.
2. Entering another season without a QB and to me, this includes Sam Howell who has the potential to be "adequate" but nothing else.
Ok so Payne and a 3rd and call it even?

Never saw so many guys that wanted a 3 win QB.
That is a good point.

The point can also be made that I have never seen so many guys crown a QB as the franchise QB after 20 NFL passes.

Hopefully Howell is the answer to our prayers. I do think Fields is special and can be a long term answer for somebody in the league.

I hope it's not one of those situations where you tell someone what they want to hear because they want the job. Remember how much Gruden "loved" RG3.

That is a good point.

Who the fuck is crowning Howell? I am not. You don't want Wentz, I get that. I am okay with TH as a backup. Other than running ability what has Fields shown? 220 yards, 17 TDs and 11 Ints with three wins. You guys killed Wentz and want a 3 win QB. I know, I am sure you have some excuses. Just like Sty said AJ McCarron (startins for an XFL team was equal to Cousins) <head slap>

Perhaps some of you guys can relate to this. So, In my previous life frame, I had a female companion who just couldn't stick to the subject, no matter how many times I would attempt to get back on point she veered into something completely unrelated. Her consistencies happened when would tell an obvious lie and stick to it no matter what in order to score fathom points apparently because she was a sideline sniper whose conviction was limited to an inability to stand for anything meaningful, take a lead, or be anything more than petty. Needless to say, the relationship didn't last long and she had to go!

I post this because I believe that I'm reliving that nightmare on this board. No, I'm not calling anyone a female or comparing anyone to her in any form or fashion other than in reference to "telling an obvious lie and sticking to it no matter what in order to score fathom points"
Here are the particulars... I've been accused of putting forth a name that from that time to the present has been sold as me stating that he was better or equal to Kirk Cousins. My counterargument is that the question at the time was one that asked who we could replace him with. You guys are the judge... Am I reliving that part of a previous nightmare?

let alone the worst passer in the NFL. Talk about desperation move. Some folks never learn. At least we didn't win the Watson lottery. That would have set us back years, just like it did the browns.

Just for the record, I'm not antii Fields per se, although he has proven he was not a 1st round caliber QB (that is not unusual). I have a problem in paying anything for QB that has not even shown an inkling that he can play in this league, let alone be franchise player who can lift up those around him. Just who did he lift up for the Bears last year?

Stop chasing fools gold. talk of giving up high drat picks for a pro bowl caliber DL is crazy and the type of move that keeps this franchise in the cellar consistently. This is not an anointment of Howell, but he is who we have and as shown as much ability to lead this team to a win as Fields has shown for the bears.

Draft a QB, or 2. Roll with what you have this year. If he doesnt pan out, continue to draft a QB even year until you find one. Then draft a QB again just to be sure.

Payne and a third for Fields?!?! Ummmmmmmmmmmmm no. No thank you, no.

Payne for Fields (who has proven nothing) and a third is more likely.

Payne for the #1 overall pick is doable.
