That's a ton of money. I actually don't grade it that high. Saints are a bit money starved so not sure that nearly $10M a year with $28M guaranteed makes a lot of sense. Will be interesting to see what Thomas gets. 5-6 years $40-45M with $18-20M or so guaranteed would've made more sense to me. But 6 @ $54? Yikes.

No doubt he makes them better, but Saints are nearing a window. They need to win in the next 1-2 years before their cap heavy players implodes the team.

We are absolutely LOADED on the defensive line, the only thing we need now is a number 2 corner as far as defense goes, could go for one in the draft. As for Byrd's contract, supposedly they are going to reconstructure some deals.

Um, Colston? He's probably gone in a couple of years anyway which will free up some money as well as expendable players like PRob. and when Brees retires that gives us a ton of money.

On it's own it looks like he was overpaid but considering how much other secondary players that don't have a track record like Byrd are getting paid, it doesn't seem so high. I expect Brees to restructure his contact and a few more players getting traded and cut will open up space for Graham, draftees, and other FAs. I'll give the signing a B+. Vaccaro and Byrd will be an elite safety tandem.
