Why would the Raiders change conferences? When the Seahawks moved to the NFC in 2002 one of the big reasons was to keep the old AFL rivalries between the Chargers, Raiders, Chiefs and Broncos intact. Sounds like BS to me.

Make us go back to the AFC? No thanks.

Besides, Chargers would be the team to move conferences since they were given the choice and said no last time. A choice I think they really regret.

Why the hell would they have to switch conferences if moving just several hundred miles down the road? We already have enough trashy fans with 9ers in this conf, don't need the black hole added as well.

I remember those old Raiders games at the Kingdome. You needed triple the usual security and police to deal with it all.

You have to wonder how much Mark Davis cares about that, though. His dad definitely cared about it, given his prominent role in that league before the merger and the rebellious nature of both the AFL and Al Davis towards the NFL, but for all we know Mark might care more about getting a new stadium than about old AFL loyalties.

To get a sweet new stadium in the second largest market in the country.

Tradition will take a backseat to $ any day.

But why is it a requirement for the Raiders to move conferences in order to get a new stadium? I don't see the connection there

Because there is talk of two teams moving there and sharing the stadium. Both teams can't be in the same conference. If SD moves there too, the Raiders would volunteer to switch to the nfc to ensure their spot.

Ok, got it.

Love how LA goes so long without 1 football team yet suddenly it needs 2 :L

That worked out so well for them last time

The only team that really doesn't FIT in the West conferences geographically is KC/St. Louis, but alas, you're running out of teams. Gotta plug someone in there lol.

The Seahawks were originally an AFC team. It just makes sense.

Close, but not quite. The Seahawks were originally an NFC team, but changed to the AFC in their second season. But, I see your point. Most of its existence has been in the AFC West.

I think that if the Raiders and another AFC team (presumably the Chargers) move to L.A., then the league would prefer to have one Los Angeles team in each conference, pushing the Raiders to the NFC in a move that Mark Davis has reportedly already said he's open to. If it's the Raiders and the Rams that both move back to L.A., then no conference-swapping would be necessary. The Raiders would stay in the AFC West and the Rams would stay in the NFC West. The Rams moving back to L.A. and staying in the NFC would be perfectly fine with me because it would mean one less trip east for the Seahawks to make every year just to play a team in their division. I'm sure the Chiefs would be perfectly fine with adding the St. Louis area to their "territory" too.

I prefer playing the NFC I think more quality franchises/cities play in the NFC as oppose to the AFC other than the patriots, steelers, ravens, dolphins, broncos and colts it seems all the teams are just not fun to watch.. who cares about buffalo, cleveland, cincinnati, tennessee, or jacksonville

the major cities IMO play in the NFC: San Fran, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, NO, Detriot, DC, Phoenix, Philly not to mentioned storied franchises like the packers. Id have to say that between the Giants and Jets, the Giants are a more valuable franchise

I would say 9ers fan's are no trashier than any other. It takes class to throw food on a guy that has to be carted off the field and that was a Seahawks fan so everyone has them.

Just move Seattle back to the AFC West.

Why not.? That way when we win another Lombardi, Seattle will have been the only team to win it all in both conferences. We are already the only team in the NFL to play in both conference championship games.
