I saw someone bring up an interesting rule. Keep in mind this is time when defensive players are persecuted. Someone said The QB faked a slide and continued to run. We know hitting a sliding QB is a 15 yard penalty. Should “faking a slide” be a penalty, ball is blown dead, or it’s just football? I lean for a penalty, since a defender would get 15 for hitting a sliding QB.. happy with blow the play dead

Not sure how you 'fake' a slide.
You are down at the moment you initiate the slide, which would seem to negate being able to do it.

I'd have to see an example of it.

I agree. However if I could see an example that looks like dirty pool then slap them with 15 yards.

I also think it should be a penalty to fake taking a knee (I know Auburn did this a couple of weeks ago and it was stupid). The point of taking a knee is not to get players hurt and show sportsmanship and “faking” pretty much negates that.

Compromise. Just penalize Auburn on every play.

:D

Similar to the running out of bounds. Washington had a QB that used to pretend he was running out of bounds then turn and run up the side line. If the Defender pounded him when he looked like he was running out it was a 15 yard penalty. If he turns up field and goes it was a great play.

The rule change I'd like to see is to penalize offensive players when they lower their head and hit defenders or when they stiff arm to the head. Both those are illegal for defense so both should be illegal for offense

Do something to stop QBs from toeing the sideline. Then the fucker side steps at the last second and the defender gets a 15 yd penalty

I think if you get 2 hands on a player they should be down, or better yet ejected from the game for a series

Well, it would give Nebraska a chance.
Maybe.

It would sure as shit help us stop the fucking run smh
Yeah, you would think so wouldn’t you.
But we both saw the Minnesota game. I’m not sure we ever put two hands on a ball carrier.
It was apparently too cold to tackle that game.

Meh.

The rule that annoys me the most is that most defensive penalties come with an automatic first down for the offense, while so few offensive penalties result in a loss of down. Sorry, a hold on a 5 yard pass play shouldn't be an automatic first down on 3rd and 18.
