if you were a Brodeur doubter before, does this do anything for you?

Not really, because he's not exactly the reason they're in the Finals. Sure, Niedermayer and Stevens aren't there, but the Devils added star players since their departure: Kovalchuk and Parise.

I mean, among all playoff goaltenders, he's just 8th in save percentage. His team has scored 51 goals and allowed 42. The Kings have scored 41 goals and allowed 22. He's in the Finals with the blue ribbon for participation; this isn't a Conn Smythe run.

Hasek leads in career save percentage

and if you wanna eliminate goalies who played in eras when forward passes were illegal and slap shots were punishable by death, hasek would lead in career goals against average too

You can't look at career save percentage though. A good chunk of Roy's best years were back when you could lead the league with a .900.

Well, that's one way to look at it... if you don't mind losing overtime games in the playoffs.

If I get to go back 25 years and draft one of them, I'm taking Hasek. Just my opinion. Tough to compare goalies on different teams.

Hasek - quit on his team in the playoffs
Roy - quit on the team mid game
Brodeur - just quit on his wife, as far as I know.

Hey, now. Patrick Roy quit on all of Canada in 2002, but the Montreal Canadiens quit on him first. Nine goals before getting pulled? He wasn't made to look like 7uon8o; Mario Tremblay let him become Ro9. :yield:

Never thought Roy was that good. Maybe because Detroit was the only team that had his number. :behindsofa:

At his best I would go Hasek. Overall Martin then Patrick then Hasek.

If I'm drafting a goalie, I'd choose Marty. Calm, cool, collected, durable and a good teammate.
If I'm starting the playoffs, I'd choose Roy. Abrasive, cocky, arrogant, damn good and intimidating.
If I have one game to win (proverbial Game 7), I'd choose Hasek. Competitive as all fuck, acrobatic, intimidating and the most talented/unorthodox of the three.

My personal, humble opinion though is this:
1.) Roy
2.) Hasek
3.) Brodeur
But I'd be damn happy with any of the three.

EDIT: also, Auto, didn't Terreri start AHEAD of Brodeur??? :D

In my head, he was just never in that group I guess. I haven't gone back and perished the numbers. It was just my opinion. I guess the Caps didn't see him much and when they did, in 98, Kolzig outplayed him so in my mind it was always the big 2.

lol... interesting reason. His save percentage is off the charts, he's got Harts stacked up to the ceiling, and he did it all on a team who's big names were Brian Holzinger and Alexei Zhitnik.

edit: just checked his playoff stats. Mother of god.

Brodeur> Roy and Roy was my idol when I was growing up as a goalie.A few other goalies I rank over Hasek
