Damn, it really doesn't seem like that long ago when he was pitching for the Astros.

Sad to see him go.

Sucks his career ended the way it did. He looked like he was well on his way to Cooperstown. Just goes to show just how unpredictable pitchers are.

Hell of a career though.

One of the most intimidating pitchers in his prime. Farewell Roy.

Not with only 2200 innings and only 8 seasons with more than 150...he would've needed a hell of a lot more dominance to compensate for a short career.

Thats too bad, he was unreal when healthy. Best of luck to him.

Yea, he was certainly on his way to a HOF caliber career as late as 2010, but he just crashed the next 3 seasons, whether by injury or bad performance.

If he had hung around for say, 3 above average seasons (115ish ERA+ per season) and another 4 mediocre seasons (100 ERA+) after 2010 while averaging 180+ innings, I'd have to think he'd have a solid shot (would be in the class of a Schilling/Mussina).

How can anyone seriously think this? Kevin Brown, a superior pitcher, fell off the ballot in one vote. David Cone, a superior pitcher, fell off the ballot in one year. Curt Schilling & Mike Mussina both failed to garner 30% of the vote, even though they're worthy Hall of Famers.

Roy Oswalt has no shot, nor should he.

Havent followed his career too closely which is exactly why I asked. Thanks though guy for your input.

A mammoth accomplishment like getting the Astros to the World Series ought to get you into the Hall of Fame no questions asked.

Realistically he fails the longevity test.
