Enough LIV PGA bullshit.

Who's been playing and how's it going?

I'm having issues with my left hip/leg so it limits me to a few times a week and I've had to use a cart sometimes but I've been playing very well. So far low rounds are 75 and 78. Yesterday I bought a set of irons for the first time in my life....always used hand-me-downs. Got fitted and went with the Mizuno JXP 923s in regular flex steel. Very psyched to get out to see if I can tag a few more greens per round.

Hey bro!
I left a golf club after 15 years, too far away now for playing 2-3 times a week. Only get to play now when invited, or sometimes alone on a course off the main track. Have played 3-4 per year in past 2 years. HC is 17.

shot a 41 today on the front nine. Distance with the irons is getting better, but still struggling with the driver.

I really have to get that weight transferring to the front foot on the backswing to make solid contact.

one of my many swing thoughts.

Played well in the league last night. Fucked up the 8th with a triple but shot +3 for the other ten holes including two birds. One of them held up for a skin and I won 30 bucks. Won 50 the week before.

My new irons are really gonna make a difference.

Tough day on the course. Started on the back with 3 straight pars before getting to the windier holes, ended up with a 40.

Made the turn and by then the heat was getting to me and it was really tough to make a decent back turn and i couldn't hit shit. Ended up with a 48....but we walked all 18 holes in the heat and humidity...so kind of a win.

am old... working my way out of being a lifelong straight bogey shooter...

first time out a couple weeks back my buddy noted that I looked like a little ballerina on twinkle toes at the end of any number of atrocious strikes... said it might help if I kept my feet planted a little more firmly... shot an ugly, but acceptable 91 that day...

yesterday, on a new 6,600-yd track, with feet firmly planted, I popped an honest 82 from the blues... best round in decades.

golf being golf, I fully expect some several new "problems" with my game will soon become apparent.

Stood on the 8th tee Sunday at +2 and then took my first quad in years....cripes. Hit it into the trees and tried a coupla miracles. There's a reason why they call them miracles!

Still could have broken 80 but closed bogey, bogey, double for an 82.

Fuckin' game....but I am loving my new Mizunos.

league match tonight~

played 9 holes last night and things finally felt better. Shot a 46 and ended with a birdie on a par 3.

a buddy is selling a Mizuno driver that he had for less than a season so I am going to give that a shot. Hoping to play tomorrow evening.

Played a benefit today on a cold blustery day at Oakhurst CC in Clarkston, MI...figure about 125 players, scramble. Was a lanky 17-yr old and his 72-yr old grandmother in our 4some...kid had the fastest swing I've ever seen and jet takeoff drives that began arcing UP at about the 180-200yd point that my drives were landing...I actually yelped several times when my jaw dropped watching this kid's play...swear to god, 345yd hole, his ball ended two feet inside the fringe...pretty much the best drive I've seen in a long time (including pro play on teevee.) Buddy and I wondered about his future when he muscled up (figure he's 6'4", 190 pounds now.)

and the course was soaked from heavy rain last night

Scored so so in league last night. We play 11 holes and I had 6 bogeys and five pars. Average scoring for me but I'm really hitting my new irons well.

I now live on an 18 hole course designed by Gary Player. Because of my house location I've been offer a full membership for $1200 annually. I hadn't picked up a club in 17 years when I played my first round with rented clubs. Just see how I felt after the first few holes. Geat course, Bought a set of cheap Titlists to start getting back in the groove. Shot a 105 the first time. Can't walk anymore so I use a cart.

Going to join and play in a Nine and Dine Tuesday afternoon league. Hey, it's in my backyard and I don't have to pay to have someone mow it..

Members get to play as many holes as they can after 3:00 PM for $22 and $6 for the cart. Course officially closes at 6:00. Members can play until dusk (7:45) as long as they return the cart to the cart garage. I've already budgeted $180 a week.

pats BK on the back... good show. Cypress Knoll looks the perfect run for challenging every stage of competence the game entails.

Took a cart yesterday and shot an 82. No great shots but no snowmen on the card either.

struggled with my irons yesterday...hit so many fat shots...

I was working on shifting my weight better to get more yardage and I think it fucked up my swing...

I need to do that on the range, not on the course.

Am 73... have never teed ahead of the whites, prefer blues - the challenge, the humbling inadequacies and occasional kisses... golf

Today played with 3 hs classmates (68' rocks!) from the senior copper tees... shot a 74 (with a pond loss)... lol... really?... holy shit I'm good!

yeah. golf.
played a beautiful course in fabulous condition today with the same three old dudes... again, from the way forward copper senior tees.
It's a great 6,200-yd track from the whites, challenging 6,600-yd run from the blues...and something like 5,400-yds from the copper.
That short shit screwed me up big time... was 4 over after two... set the tone for a long, humiliating day (92) on a course I've played many times and never scored over 85. (June 4th hit 82 from the blue tees.)
Mental, huh?
I'm not the only one... my partner is pretty much scratch... was a frustrated as I was... we agreed to play whites or more from here on out.

any of yall have that problem? being forced to play below your preconceived expectations of competency? :becky:

No, there is nothing lower on the golf course than my competency.

That has always been a recurring problem for me.

This guys drill seems to right the ship for me.
