I played my first round in 3 years and for the first time in my life, I enjoyed it. The secret was drugs.

Tried to go out on Monday but was feeling under the weather. Thought it was just a lingering father's day hangover. Called it quits after nine and spent the rest of the day and all day yesterday curled up in the fetal position with the flu.

That being said, 44 on a new course with about 60% focus isn't horrible.

played a beautiful course in fabulous condition today with the same three old dudes... again, from the way forward copper senior tees.
It's a great 6,200-yd track from the whites, challenging 6,600-yd run from the blues...and something like 5,400-yds from the copper.
That short shit screwed me up big time... was 4 over after two... set the tone for a long, humiliating day (92) on a course I've played many times and never scored over 85. (June 4th hit 82 from the blue tees.)

I'm not the only one... my partner is pretty much scratch... was a frustrated as I was... we agreed to play whites or more from here on out.

any of yall have that problem? being forced to play below your preconceived expectations of competency?

You scored 10 strokes higher because you were closer to the holes?! That simply makes no sense. Hit a 5 wood or hybrid off the tee and you're in the same place as driver from the blues. The only difference is that it's easier to hit the fairways.

So I played well Tues night. Putting was very solid and I had 7 pars and 4 bogeys with all four bogeys being a close miss for par. LOVING my new Mizunos.

Get this, our league went to net skins. WTF? We play 11 holes and I'm an 8 so I get 4 strokes a round. Every other hole is parred by someone getting a stroke so a birdie could never hold up. My only chance is a net eagle on one of four holes I get a stroke on.

Fuck that, no more putting in for skins.

If a tour pro played that course from the blues he’d kill it. From the forward tees he’d shoot in the mid to low fifites.

Golf does make sense; you? Not so much. You're admiting that you’re unable to make adjustments to your approach to the game that would take advantage of being closer.

About what I have no idea. I was discussing a course being easier from forward tees; I have no clue where bro is going with all that. Whatever.

Stood on the 16th tee at +8. Still a chance to break 80. I promptly push one out OB. Fuck, well there goes that. Then I pured a 6i to 6ft to save bogey....missed it. Then snaked in a long bird on 17 so hey, we're back in the 79 game with a closing par.

Thinned a pw into the back bunker and made bogey! Cripes.

Hacked out a ho hum 83 on Saturday. I need to shake this ridiculous thing I have about breaking 80. I only do it a few times a year but every round I'm obsessed with it and I end up being disappointed.

Low 80s is a respectable round I need to get over myself!

You want bad, let me tell you about my play yesterday. I had done a back workout prior to playing...that's my excuse.

I went bogie, triple bogie, bogie, double bogie, bogie and on the sixth hole I quit counting. Had i kept counting, that would have been a snowman, then a double bogie and finally a par...I believe that's around 18 over par for a 53.

Better than yesterday, but anything would have been. Shot a 44, a couple of duffed chips killed an otherwise good game. Both times I let the club slow down when I hit the rough.

Playing Berkshire Hills CC in Pittsfield MA this morning. A challenging Tillinghast design. Def won't be breaking 80 although an 80 is my PB there.

played 18 with a vendor on Wednesday. Started off great on the front with a 43 then followed it up with a 50 on the back. A couple shots I'd like to have back but most of it felt normal.

After I had golf league so I played another 9 holes. Shot a 49. Again, a couple holes where I was just not catching any breaks.

I like the new Mizuno driver and am getting good extra yardage out of it.

Yesterday they slit and sanded the greens. Rolling much quicker than before. The trouble was all the greens weren't finished so it was hard to get a feel for them. Some putts would go way past the hole and others wouldn't make it there.

Golf is an odd sport. Yesterday I shot a 41 even though I was not hitting the ball well...at all. The day before I shot a 47 and I thought I was hitting some pretty good shots.

Round started bad and ended bad. Shot a 7 on both the first hole and the last hole, ended up with an 82.

Was hoping to break 80 for the first time, but if you want to watch me collapse, just slow the pace of play to a crawl...Patience is not a virtue I possess.

Played well at Berkshire Hills CC yesterday. +7 on the front 'cause of two stupid doubles but held down +4 on the back for an 83 with a par par finish.

I had taken a 5 day vacation from golf and that helped.
