If you don't think kids are bullied/targeted at a young age before a "coming out process", then you're mistaken. You basically just said they bring it upon themselves because of this process.

My post was in relation to people acting like the words "gay & fagot" are reasons for social condemning. They are just words at the end of the day. He doesn't owe the public the truth.

But, maybe their is someone special in his life and he didn't want that person to feel like he was ashamed.

We have no idea what his motivation was.

But, I'm willing to believe that his purpose was not exploitative like Michael Sam.

I think it's hard to judge unless you belong to that particular demographic and your life experiences.

The only difference is the content in the stories...but both situations call for empathy. Something you were unable to show in the case of Lamar so please don't jump down my throat here.

But, I don't condone name calling & just think people have to get beyond that. It is crucial to understand there are some mental midgets among us that don't possess the mental capability to connect with others-regardless of background, race, or sexual preference.

Listen, kids are bullied for just about ANYTHING these days. Kids are typically cruel and unable to think beyond the moment or tap into their own emotions, let alone someone else's.

I will say this one last time- I wasn't blaming the targeted as you stated. Just giving examples of why I believe sometimes things happen. In this particular case, why was it necessary for him to come out? It was just a word Rondo expressed verbally. The targeted could've looked beyond the word and realized the source from which it came (Rondo being an idiot) and moved on.

And to answer your question I did choose to be straight. I feel it was a choice because I had options. In the case of being bi-racial or any race for that matter- there are no options to choose.

But I want to say something else in response to your other post. Why did he feel the need to respond to Rondo's stupidity with whether or not he is gay? Did Rondo literally ask him if he is or not? The reason I'm asking is because without that response it becomes just another instance where a player gets out of hand and name calls.

A similar situation that stands out in particular is when Kobe did it a couple years back. He was fined but I don't recall whether or not that ref felt the need to actually address the comment by revealing his preference publically.

My guess is Kennedy just wanted to address the topic and get the truth out there so everyone could get over it and stop discussing it.
