Just last season Dallas held onto a guy who publicly said he did not want to be in Dallas - Ronald Leary. Jerry kept him, despite his public displeasure. While Romo looms larger than Leary, it is a very similar situation. To say that Jerry wouldn't keep Romo despite him wanting to be somewhere else is ignoring the very recent past.
And Jerry has more leverage than any of the other owners. Jerry holds the contract, he will make the final decision, no matter who likes it or not. To say Jerry is holding the losing hand is not at all accurate. What's Romo going to do if Jerry says "tough luck, you're staying in Dallas"? The answer is nothing. Or maybe Romo retires, but that is not the same thing as Jerry "losing".
I understand what your saying about Leary and Ron showed up at camp and worked his butt of and then he got to play when Collins went down and turned that into a big payday. I get your point about Jerry but he is not like Mike Brown of the Bengals who would cut off his nose to spite his face. Quarterback is a different horse race however. I refer to Jerry losing like this " he does not get his way" he wont get a pick for Romo IMHO and Romo wont be a backup in Dallas , if Romo retires Jerry loses simply because he did not get a pick and could not Talk Romo into playing as a Backup.
Now with all that said I hope they get something but I just think it wont get done. I honestly believe it will all be over by 4-17-17 when Ota's start. I want something for Tony for the Cowboys to get better but I don't see it happening. I really like Tony and neither he nor the Cowboys owe anything to each other its just down to the business side and while that can be messy it will all be over soon.
And Hey if I am wrong I will be plenty happy if we get a pick and if I am right no big deal even a broken clock is correct 2 times a day
And for all that disagree no worries . That's why we have the forum and why we have Chocolate, Strawberry and Mango ice cream because while I like vanilla the other flavors taste good 2.
