Glen Campbell wasn't only a great singer but also an excellent guitar player. I like both Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell.
I like him pretty good too.
But he's still no Johnny Cash, or even close.

The Monkees had a popular television show before they did concerts so of course they had a bigger following. Gee you're dumb.
Bullshit, Glen Campbell was every bit as good as Johnny Cash and a much better guitarist. I own recordings by both men.
Waylon is one of my favorite artists of all time.

Waylon could do rock as well as country. He once backed Buddy Holly just before Holly died in a plane crash. The guy was just gifted. He's my all time favorite. But much like Three Dog Night, he doesn't belong in the R&R HOF.
Glen Campbell was a first call studio musician in the days when you might get 3 takes and then it's "hit the record button". Very few musicians have that ability alone, but he also had world class chops and performed live. I'd say he's up there with the creme of the crop of country music for his guitar playin' skillz.

Great guitar picker for sure. He's in the same category as Roy Clark for me. All world guitar player(Clark was all world anything with strings), but not much on songwriting and the like.
Yes Jimmy Webb was his go to songwriter. To judge a performer on songwriting ability is ridiculous. Bob Dylan was a great songwriter but has a terrible singing voice and that is why most of his songs were done better by other performers.Yeah, I'm not familiar with anything that he actually wrote; if anything. He did do some nice things with some Jimmy Webb tunes.
A very underrated band in my opinion.
