I agree. His stature as both a vocalist and arranger cannot be overestimated. He basically invented the form by combining those various influences he was fluent in.

Unfortunately many folks judge Elvis on the last two years of his career when he was overweight and addicted to presciption drugs. He was the driving force behind the explosion of rock n roll in the mid 50's and opened doors for black rythmn & blues musicians.
