He actually was before the injury but was hitting right at guys. But we have a person on this board with very little baseball sense to notice that. So thanks for calling that out. He takes good cuts and does not seemed to be overmatched most of the time. We need to see what we have in Guzman for a couple of years to see if we have an Adrian Gonzalez type player.

That is what this season and most likely the next one should be all about. That is why the way they handled the Calhoun/Choo/Pence situation is so puzzling to me.

Re Willie Rakes. We can't hold him down forever and unless we package him for solid pitching, we need to find a way to get him in the lineup with regular starts. Funny how he is getting some starts at 2B. Just don't want him up here to sit. He has definitely matured IMO

Re Jurado Tough situation and should get some starts. Chavez was supposed to be long reliever but our SP is so fragile 3-5, you need guys who can go multiple innings a few times per week. Jurado fits that. Glad Smyly looked better against a real tough lineup.

I am ready to see what we have in him. Who knows, he could surprise us and become another Feldman type guy who could have some success in the rotation for awhile.

As far as the break goes, I don't see any of our future starters being ready to make the jump. Hearn and Burke should have been, but injuries will prohibit that for awhile.

Now, maybe we can make a trade for a AA pitcher and then bring him up.

I hope it is the best player but yes we need elite hitters. Believe you think this too but I think you get more maturity and less risk for injury if pitcher comes out of college vs HS. I don't trust HS coaches to protect these players
