So we get swept by the Astros and Houston twitter trolls are out in full force. Lived in Houston back when Dierker pitched and Joe Morgan still played for them and Senators had not moved. Went to games in the dome as a kid.

Just totally oblivious to the complex a lot of these Houston crew have. Maybe it is a different world now than it was back then.
But now I can never root for them again.

According to our front office

“ Odor starts at 2nd for life no matter what, after he hit Jose Bautista and stunned him with the best bunch in baseball over the last 20 years”
I must have missed that news conference

That is what this season and most likely the next one should be all about. That is why the way they handled the Calhoun/Choo/Pence situation is so puzzling to me.
You're right. We shouldn't sign anyone and we should unload Choo, Odor, Lynn and Minor for whatever we can get between now and ST. That way we can start the rebuild in 2020

I hope it is the best player but yes we need elite hitters. Believe you think this too but I think you get more maturity and less risk for injury if pitcher comes out of college vs HS. I don't trust HS coaches to protect these players
That is definitely part of it. The other is, I want closer to a 3 year wait for them to get here instead of 5 or 6 years due to where we are as an organization. In a year or two I may feel differently.

I’m glad I spent today with my mother and family instead of watching that nasty ass game.

Glad we’re leaving Houston. Can’t get out of there fast enough. What a miserable series.

Go figure.

Other teams seem to be good at picking up our discarded players and making them good.

He was DFAd 3 times. Sounds like he had some personal growth outside of pitching.

Perhaps the biggest room for improvement lies between your 2 ears

Just thinking that we have talented arms in MILB but a many of our guys on the 25 are subcaliber MLB arms. For example, Scheppers had an electric arm but once he had that fight his career tumbled to my recollection. Yet now only LeClerc and the one Martin have good arms. Kelley is a polished pen guy. Chavez has regressed and the rest are just way too hittable

If the season ended today we would draft 8th again next year like we will next month.

It is like pinning the tail on the donkey, so much is needed.

I don’t know, I’m actually starting to question the front office. It just seems like they haven’t been good the last 5 years or so. I don’t seem to have a clear vision of what the long term plan actually is. When are we going to spend money again? The owners hardly invested in the team this year and it shows.

What sticks out to me are some bad trades, both in receiving the major league player and in sending the major league player away for prospects.

Maybe it’s just timing, but the Astros have definitely been doing better the last few years. The only trade we did that really excited me was Cliff Lee. The Astros have pulled off two trades like that when they got verlander and Cole.

It makes our dempster, Garza, lucroy / Jeffress trades look really bad. There’s one that makes us look bad on a yearly basis, the Christian Guzman for tanner roark trade. I’d rather have him in our rotation right now. Kyle Hendricks too.

I know we’ve had some bad luck with injuries, but we really havent made any shrewd moves to offset the bad ones. If someone could weigh in and let me know what the long term plan is, I’d appreciate it.
