It was more him just being a ghoul with numerous tweets that Johnny was dead before there was any official confirmation. Trying to drive engagement and clicks over such a tragedy is lowest of the low.

First time I heard of him, my older valley girl cousin sees me watching hockey back in the 90s and says:

"So you like hockey? Do you know Tim Peel? He's like a ref or something."

Me: "Never heard of him!" (which was true at the time.)

I honestly never thought I would be writing a post like this. Yes, it was my last goal in the NHL. Yes, it was quite a nice goal. Yes, it was a beautiful pass above all. Unfortunately, life can sometimes be incredibly cruel. Thank you Johnny Gaudreau for being here and giving hope to all the guys with your incredible performances that even if they are not the biggest and heaviest, they can succeed at the world level in the NHL like you did. Sincere condolences to the entire family.

He faces two charges for vehicular homicide that carry a max sentence of 10 years each. He'll probably plead guilty since he already admitted to police all the elements of fact here, but a judge is not likely to go light in a very public case with very clear bad behavior that had disastrous consequences.

The judge is likely to sentence him to close to the max. I would guess 16-18 years, which means he'll probably rejoin society after 10-12 years. That may not seem like enough, but he'll leave prison an old, poor man. It will negate any accomplishments of his life, it will haunt him, and it will shame him. Nobody in this day with all the options we have available should ever drive drunk.

The judge will also suspend Tom Wilson for 12 games just because.
