He's a great coach. The jets are a train wreck because of terrible GM work, and this is not his fault. It's been made clear he has no say in personnel.

He never had a say.

If he were fired he would have a DC job in five minutes and a HC job within a year.

You thought wrong.

Going 8-8 with the talent this team had, was a great coaching job by him. Half the battle as a HC is getting players ready to play and he has guys ready to go through a wall for him. And hes a great strategist defensively and has a very good OC now. Just needs talent.

The Jets were a circus long before Rex showed up, and the front office doesn't give him the ability to change that.

Mainly a ownership thing, Woody Johnson isn't that good. Though I think John Idzik has done a good job so far in terms of fixing the circus atmosphere that Mike Tannenbaum had going on.

This is a different front office. Idzik is a totally different kind of guy than Tannenbaum. Tanny loved the spotlight himself, was always looking to make an immediate splash instead of executing a long term vision.

At one time I would have said impossible, but after seeing the Lions hiring of Caldwell, anything can happen in the NFL (Nuts For Life)....

I guess I kind of consider ownership/FO synonymous when the ownership is as involved as in NY. The group as a whole has done nothing to impress me, and I blame them for the shitshow that New York is. Rex Ryan can't provide a sane environment when he is getting sabotaged.

After BB and both Harbaughs, I take Rex over anyone. I really do.

Agree...good move by the Jets. Lame duck HC don't work in the NFL..When he had the DEF built up...the Jets were a playoff caliber team with Mark "butt fumble" Sanchez running the show.

He might be a little wacky, but he's good coach...8-8 with a rookie QB is not a bad job imo.

Why is everyone bringing up being 8-8 being a good thing... Look who the Jets beat!!!

Oak,cleveland,TB,atl were all terrible teams

they went 3-3 in their division, which is not the strongest... and division games have always been different than regular games...

They only had 2 big wins, one was vs the saints who are a bad away team and the other was vs the Patriots, and that was when the patriots were struggling...

I am not convinced that a "lesser" coach could have done any worse!!!

They also embarassed themselves in 6 of their 8 losses...

I didn't say it was good, just not bad imo...doesn't matter who they beat...once you sift through all of the facts that you posted...8 wins with a rookie QB is not bad.

i would agree 8-8 with a rookie QB is not bad... But to claim that Rex deserves his job because the Jets had a good season, or at least a better season than expected, is not looking at the full picture...

Unfortunately though i do agree that rex did not have a bad enough season to justify him losing his job... Was hoping the Jets would have found ways to lose those games so rex could get fired... I am just not a fan, and it has nothing to do with his big mouth...
