From the "National Post"

A pretty interesting list and some interesting takes:

The highs, the lows, the new Modanos

I would add the Pens to the winners list though. ALthough I would not have wanted those players for those prices in Washington, it made perfect sence for the flightless birds.

Some pretty good zingers in there, I feel a little bad for Kings fans, they are on the cusp of being serious contenders, and Lombardi has really let them down this off-season.

DownGoesBrown takes it national!

a little disappointed that his only zinger at the Nucks was incorrect.
I guess it's a good sign that we don't have a obvious omfg moment to point to.

New Jersey Devils Foolishly based entire free agency strategy on the assumption that the specific terms of the CBA would be adhered to.

Boston Bruins Short-sightedly drafted future franchise player Tyler Seguin with the top-two pick acquired from Toronto, leaving virtually no room on roster for franchise players available with Toronto's top-two pick in 2011.

Florida Panthers Despite best efforts, have likely not done enough to satisfy the expectations of their die-hard fan.

Hey, ICW got pub!

You think he put all of his eggs in 1 basket with the Kovy situation, Dash?...

They set their sights on Kovy, and just couldn't agree on a dollar figure that would work (although I guess they might get a second chance depending on the ruling from the arbitrator).

Here's a crazy thought - Why not fire up the Southern California rivalry and submit an offer sheet for Bobby Ryan?

Because the Ducks have 13 million available cap space & Drew Doughty will soon be a RFA. Turn about is fair play.

Well, if Lombardi has any sense left, he'll lock up Doughty wayyy before it gets to that point...

That would mean signing Doughty to a long term deal before July 1st 2011. Lombardi has mentioned the need to be carefull this offseason with Doughty in mind.

I don't know exactly what's going on in Dallas but, there will be a bankruptcy hearing soon. NewsCorp a Rupert Murdoch company is one of the bidders. Will the Stars trade somebody before or after a decision on the franchise is made? Making a trade within the division isn't something many teams like to do. However considering what the Kings can offer from their roster or prospect pool the Stars would certainly have to cosider it.

Here's what should happen (in my extremely biased view):

1. Calgary oil billionaire Bill Gallacher buys the Stars
2. Gallacher gets Nieuwy to trade Brad Richards to Calgary for Robyn Regehr and Michael Backlund
3. Profit.
