I think that search has turned nation-wide.
They pissed me off letting Ackley go, he was finally showing a little something and is young, and we gave up a lot to get him… He might not ever be a star player but he can end up being decent … Julio we crowned as the next Griffey way too soon..Julio vs Ackley
Ackley:
1st Year: .273
2nd Year: .226
3rd Year: .253
Julio:
1st Year: .284
2nd Year: .275
3rd Year: .253

I don’t think Ackley was rushed to the bigs leagues though. He was failed by bad coaching, along with I don’t think he was really as talented as everyone thought.I don't know if its fair to necessarily compare both like that as JROD is a 2x all star and 4th in MVP voting his sophomore season. Dustin Ackley just never materialized into anything but I blame his coaching more than anything he was super rushed to the majors, him and Mike Zunino. I will say however on the subject of JROD if we miss the playoffs a good portion of the blame should be directed at him as he is supposed to be the guy that drives this lineup.
I worry in the sense that him performing well the first 2 years was a direct ambition to get paid but now that he is already set to be paid for the next 11 years there is a lack of motivation.
Yes they did. I had a hard time accepting it when it happened especially when the Braves signed their rookie who matched up with Julio for 1/4th the price.Julio we crowned as the next Griffey way too soon.
Wait! You mean giving a 21 year old from a low income country $400M might make him lax? LOL. Yes that is always a concern, but I think he had issues in his swing that have been exposed. He is a free swinger and doesn't seem like he wants to change that. I have no idea why a 23 year old with his size has to fall into the other batters box to swing. He is plenty strong enough to take a controlled approach but that doesn't make the highlight reels. Just my opinion.I worry in the sense that him performing well the first 2 years was a direct ambition to get paid but now that he is already set to be paid for the next 11 years there is a lack of motivation.
He was the least enthused player I can remember. I mean there is relaxed then there is Ackley. He wouldn't even swing at times during an AB. Maybe he never had to grind to succeed and when the time came in the majors he just didn't know how. He was just different. I would love to ask Seager about him.I don’t think Ackley was rushed to the bigs leagues though. He was failed by bad coaching, along with I don’t think he was really as talented as everyone thought.
Yep I told my brother the same to things last week. When Mariners could hit and not pitch, they traded hitters for pitchers. Now it is the opposite. It didn't work then and it won't work now. If they had two studs in the minors ready to pitch next year, then yes. But we don't have that.
So, Logan is gone next year and so is rozy if the payroll doesn't increase. Which it won't so...
