Former Colts WR Reggie Wayne arrived in New England last night and is taking a physical with the Patriots today, per league sources.

The Patriots are currently dealing with injuries to several members of their receiving corps:

• Top receiver Julian Edelman has been out since Aug. 2 with what is believed to be a leg/ankle injury.

• No. 2 receiver Brandon LaFell, who was spotted in the offseason with a boot on his left foot, has been on the physically unable to perform list since camp opened.

Brian Tyms, a candidate for a spot as the fourth or fifth receiver, sustained a foot injury Wednesday that could threaten his season.

Aaron Dobson, a 2013 second-round pick, has reportedly been slowed by a hamstring injury.

• Veteran Brandon Gibson, who was making a push for a roster spot, injured his knee late Saturday night against the Saints and underwent X-rays after the game.

the fact that Edelman is the top receiver is enough to look for help where ever they can...I know, Gronk. Not my point. That receiving corps is not strong other than him.

I always liked Reggie Wayne and I hope he sticks with the team and plays. He is not close to what he once was, but I think he can still help a team and the Pats definitely could use WR help.

I know Wayne is done, but he still probably upgrades Carolina

I think Jerrico Cotchery is their #1

i think wayne can still play, but not as a #1. he was never a burner to begin with, he is harrison like in how he runs routes etc (tho not as good if you follow me, harrison is the best route runner i ever saw)

92 catches for 976 yards in 14 games is nothing to scoff at.

As for Reggie, he looked very slow last year so we'll see if he has anything left.

I agree. I'm not saying Edelman stinks by any stretch, just that most teams would hope to have a #1 WR better than him. Listen a SB was won with him as a #1, so there is more than one way to skin a cat and the Pats have always been able to get the most out of the talent they have been handed. Just a lot easier in today's day and age of big, strong, fast WRs to do so with a guy like Edelman as your #2 and the number of catches a guy has is a lot of times more due to opportunity than pure talent.

I heard on here that they have the most weapons on offense, where I don't know. They must have them hidden in the locker room

When Flacco can avg Brady's then we can talk. And his 2/1 td/int over Flacco means wobbly is the way to throw

For years Pats fans said Reggie Wayne was a once-in-a-generation receiver who made Peyton Manning who he was.

If he goes to the Pats?

"Brady will have to carry him."

Just a shame that so late in career, he finally has an elite QB to throw too. Imagine if he was with the Pats all along, he would shatter Jerry Rice's records
