well we could use a blocker but having a good receiving TE to play when reed gets hurt can be a good thing . williams or brun will have to block

yes definitely keep Jeffcoat I think he is a playmaker

I agree with you but we are loaded at OLB. IF Hayward didn't get hurt I think Jeffcoat would of been cut. That roster spot might come down to special teams. So guys like Robinson, Davis, Spencer, and Jarret will get the nod b/c of there special team play.

tandler has Davis and Jeffcoat not making the team in his latest prediction 5.0. But Houston Bates, W. Smith, and Kearse, make the team. What???

i think you have to look hard at plummer if heyward is gone (which he is ) i like jeffcoat and bates but will they see the field ?

Redskins acquired TE Derek Carrier from the 49ers for a conditional 2017 fifth-round pick.

The "conditions" are related to playing time and stats. Carrier just turned 25 years old and has absurd measurables, running 4.49 with a 40-inch vertical at 6-foot-3, 240 coming out of Beloit College in 2012. He probably should've played over both Vance McDonald and Vernon Davis last year, but wound up handling under 200 snaps. Carrier is a converted wide receiver who earned positive run and pass blocking grades from PFF in 2014. He gives Washington a No. 2 tight end following Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen's year-ending injuries. We wouldn't totally rule out the possibility of Carrier pushing always-injured Jordan Reed once he picks up Jay Gruden's system.

When I read it on the scrawl I was a little bummed out, hate to give up future picks for stop gaps. Then I got to thinking that this will be a need next offseason anyway so why not use a late pick on a TE. Now I'm reading he is another Niles Paul and we already have one of those.

I guess they had to do this but it's a shame they are burning picks on a lost season.

carrier is young 25 , has some good measurables , now you have to ask yourself is the 5th rounder equal to carriers potential ? i would say carrier is as good as a 5th rounder you could have had but we will have to wait and see

That's kind of what I was thinking. If they got a TE in the draft in round 5 that stuck that wouldn't be a bad pick.
