I was encouraged just to finally see Votto turn on a ball, even if it was a meaningless homer. Maybe he finally just got pissed off and went for it. If that was it he should go on a tear now. He really needs to, for the sake of the team.

Phillips is hitting well..... I always cut Joey a break because of the guys that followed him in the order (Rollen never scared anyone). But with the way Phillips is slugging, he is running out of excuses. I'm not ready to panic yet, but the thought that he is 'mentally struggling' has crossed my mind.

I wouldn't doubt it.... Though I'm not sure why anyone would have the motivation to say it. Didn't everyone want Rollen out of here?
Anyway, amazing what a couple games will do to a guy's numbers. Votto is now over .320 with OPS and slugging steadily climbing and an already impressive OBP. It would be nice to see him put together a few series where he is driving the ball like he did this weekend.
