A lot of people didn't believe me we would be fine without Votto for a few weeks. I mean hell, no one ever pitches to him anyways, so it didn't really matter. What it did do, is not allow everyone else to rely on Joey to be the hero, they had to step up and become their own hero, and if that attitude can stick when Joey comes back from the DL, this team will be that much stronger.

Agreed. I said the same thing to a lot of people. This team was going to start realizing that they can hit the ball and score runs without all of them just waiting on votto to carry the offense.

Glad it worked out that way, thus far.

Garza would be our 2nd starter. Leake would probably go to the pen.

Either the 'Pen or sent to AAA...the 'pen has been pretty good already and I don't see them wanting to send anyone down at this point.

That and we have Masset coming back soon!

And I know these things have a way of working themselves out, but where is he going to go?

Right now, he's slated for AAA. The 'pen is one of the best in the majors (last night not withstanding).

It's possible that when rosters expand, Leake could eat some innings in long relief -- It's not looking like we'll need extra rest for the bullpen, but one never knows.

Garza? He looks like damaged goods right now. Why are people so down on Leake after one bad start? He's fine for the fifth starter. And Masset, well, I'll believe it when I see it. I still think shoulder surgery is probably in his near future. Hope I'm wrong.

Simon has been one of the best relief pitchers in the 'pen before last night. He had a bad 2 game start and then since then went something like 20 apperances without a run. Dude has been money. I hated the trade early on (mainly because TF got sent down for him) but he's been a huge pickup for this 'pen.

He also has no options, and that is another big factor.

Guys in the 'pen that have options are: Lecure, Ondrusek, Chapman are for sure. Bray might have options. I'm pretty sure that Marshall does not. Nor does Simon.

Should Masset make it back, Bray has to go. He has shown no signs of finding his form of last year, and isn't that tough against lefties anyway. Dude can't find the strike zone. If Bray has options, fine. If not he should be DFA.

Reds trade a couple of midling minor leaguers for Broxton. Good addition to already a great strength in the 'pen.

Bray back on the DL, shocking...Redman up.

Brackman DF'A to make room for Broxton. When he's here, Redman will get sent back down.

Not a terrible move either, if they could extend him cheap. AC is going to the rotation next year, and the Reds will be looking for a closer. No time to audition like the present.

I really like this trade. Broxton is a really good pitcher and if Chapman goes into the rotation next year then Broxton is a good replacement.

Broxton is a better pitcher and closer than Madson. I don't see it being that close.

The Broxton that threw 100+ for the Dodgers a few years back was, but he hasn't been that guy for some time now. I hear he tops out at 95 now, but he's keeping the ball down and getting grounders. His K/9inn ratio is down under 7, which means he's not the overpowering guy he once was. Still a good addition I think, and maybe a closing option for next year if Chappy moves into the rotation.

Ideally i'd like to see Chapman in the rotation. But he needs to develop another pitch or two. Right now he's a one-trick pony. It's a great trick, but having to turn over the line up and have guys face him more than once I dont think he'd fare as well.

He's got the slider and the splitter that he never throws.....it's enough pitches to start, but he needs to use the splitter as a change and more sliders....he also needs to be stretched out over a fairly long period of time.
