Jonathon Maccollister, Bishop Moore Catholic HS OT - Scout

Notre Dame has already added its first commitment of its monster recruiting weekend. Defensive end Jonathon MacCollister, who holds over 20 offers, chose Notre Dame over Tennessee and Ohio State on Friday evening while on campus.

Great news! Lets hope it's the first of many this weekend/week. I noticed he was only listed as a 3 star recruit, but he has some impressive offers from UT, OSU, Auburn, MSU and others. He's also from the same H.S. as Parker Boudreaux, so hopefully having that connection to ND will help to keep him in the fold.

Ohio State recruited him as a tight end so it tells you how athletic he is, any time we steal a recruit from the Ohio State Buttholes it's all good.

The offers a guys is getting tell a greater tale then the star rating, at least that is my point of view.

Most definitely. He's going to get bumped up to a 4* when it's all said and done, I think playing both ways hurts ratings more than it helps.

Hopefully they keep him as a DE, god knows they need help at that position. My top targets remain:

1. Robert Beal- DE
2. Hezekiah Jones- WR
3. Barron Browning- LB

Notre Dame sits at 7th overall right now, but they have a real shot at 3 of those kids. The 2016 class was a little disappointing, so hopefully they kick ass for the '17 class. Winning consistently will be the key to continuing recruiting success.

ESPN rank him as a 3 star 77,Rivals ranks him as a 3 star, Scout ranks him as a 3 star, 247sports ranks him as a 3 star 86. So another 3 star kid with some big offers like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, UNC, NC State just to name a few (40 total offers).

Just like with MacCollister, I'm not worried about the number of stars they have. It's the quality of the offers they are getting this early in the process. Pouncey has offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan State and others. MacCollister has offers from Tennessee, Ohio State and Auburn. I like both these guys.

Even bigger news, 4* Jr RB Markese Stepp from Cathedral commits. Notre Dame now has commits from a 5* QB and 4* RB in the class of '18. Just keep winning consistently, which they're capable of doing, and they'll keep landing Holtz-level recruiting classes.

ND just landed #4 from this weekend. 4 star ATH Paulson Adebo has committed to ND. He was on the Top of the board for the secondary position. Big time Get.

ND sits at #6 now for Class Rank.

Also there was a picture posted on Twitter with all the incoming freshman. One guy was missing, Parker....and lots of people were commenting on him. Anything with him I don't know about?

I hadn't heard anything but who knows. Maybe he couldn't make it to the camp so he wasn't in the picture?
