same for the Diamondbacks. I love how both teams are just sitting on their hands

product of the 2 teams having the 2 worst GM's in all of MLB

Money has never been an issue for the Yankees, but it is for the Royals. The Phils and Royals have had recent conversations about A.J. Burnett, butthe word Thursday morning was that might not be a fit because of Kansas City's tight budget. The Royals are casting a wide net for a starter but can't spend much.

If money is the only obstacle there, Ruben just has to give KC most of it and pretend that he spent it on some garbage reliever like he seems to every year.

Like I stated numerous time before. This team is going nowhere fast except down the krapper as long as Boobens has influence on player development and movement. WE are doomed until the fans let the ownership know (by boycotting going to the stadium) to get rid of this braindead knucklehead.

Give Ruben credit, he's sticking to his plan. All he needs to do is tinker with the bench next year and this team is clearly a World Series contender. .... How fucking deluded is he that he probably honestly believes this....he has beyond the Andy Reid treatment from me now, I'm done with this team until Ruben is not making the calls anymore.

It seems like not trading Byrd would be the biggest mistake. Most of those other guys have such ridiculous contracts that they would clear waivers anyway

Meh, whatever. It would be nice to see one of the Phillies former "prospects" have some success. It's not like Jon Singleton and Travis D'Arnaud are setting the world on fire.

I thought for sure you all were going to do some kind of big payroll rebuild.

Sign vets to short term deals, send a ton of cash to cover the contract and get good prospects back.

Eating large amounts of cash on the Paplebon, Burnett, Lee and Byrd contracts would have gotten you all a ton prospects back.

Nobody wanted any of our guys. :bawling:

Let's face it, we would have gotten garbage for anybody. Our future success depends on the development of our young pitching staff and Asche, Brown, Revere, Ruf, Rupp, Franco, and others on the farm who might move up. I'm not very hopeful. Wow, fartman really blew his chances of a change in scenery.

If we are counting on the development of those guys we are in real trouble.
And which young pitching staff are you referring to? Jonathan Pettibone?

The pattern is clear and it eminates from Bonehead. He signs players to ridiculous contracts and the result is the Phillies get stuck with players they can't move because the contracts are so prohibitive. The dopes responsible for this are Boobens and the FO that pat him on the head like Benny Hill. What they see in ANY of his munitions is beyond me because we are going to see this krap for the next couple of years even with the development of the young guys we now have.

Local guys here in the Bay Area say the health of the owner is the biggest reason for no deals in Philly. Seems they want to maintain as much "value" as they can for as long as they can.
