I don't know that I'd have UGA at #1. To be honest, the reasons they list for it are probably the things that make Texas the best IMO, not to mention the fact that UT has more money than UGA and no state income tax, as well.
Georgia has ridiculous recruiting ground. Georgia, Auburn and Clemson make a living off the state.

The state of Florida is better but damn the talent in Ga is solid every year.

Oh there's no question, but it's the same in Texas obviously. They just haven't had a good enough coach recently to close the border and shut off the other Texas schools.

I honestly haven't seen the kids from Texas taking it to the next level at just about every position like you do in Florida and Georgia. They have volume but there are too many hands in that cookie jar and not enough quality.

I don't think it's possible to put a fence around Texas like LSU does in La.

Bama is number 1 right now. Wasn’t close when Saban took over, but now with their NFL pipeline, they get recruits from all over the country, and Alabama isn’t bad recruiting grounds as is, and right next door to Georgia and Florida

Really?
2017 #1 overall pick Myles Garrett from Texas, currently killing it
2017 Super Bowl winning QB Nick Foles from Texas
Jamal Adams, 2017 top 5 pick, arguably the best safety in the NFL, from Texas
2018 #1 overall pick and record-setting QB Baker Mayfield from Texas
2019 #1 overall pick Kyler Murray from Texas
Reigning NFL MVP Pat Mahomes, from Texas

These are just off the top of my head

Not sure what else you could want

Well, some potato salad in the poll would be good.
I bet they could finish top 50.

Wonder who that would bump out???
17. Washington
This is a proud program with a strong tradition that is located in a great city and plays at one of the most picturesque settings in college football. It’s not immune to mediocrity or worse — just look at the stretch from the early 2000s to the mid-2010s — but Washington is a highly desirable job.

Well, I was going for the UCF troll, but this is funnier.

Well played.

You tell em. They never expected the 1 of 7 UTEP fans to read Athlon.
7? Didn't think there were that many of us still in existence. :heh:

Never really understood why Iowa is so down on this list.

You don't get fired over 8- or 9-win seasons.

You get a raise + extension every 10-win season.

Iowa City (and surrounding areas) are a nice places to live.

Are the Big Dogs in the state. No NFL teams.

Not much in state talent. Not a great history. Not a great area to recruit to.
