AJ can't be the odd man out. Another team would snatch him up so fast if he keeps pitching this well.
I had mentioned he would probably stay in AAA most of this year unless we had an injury to Elvis or Roogie. Next year was when I was considering the possibility of him going to a different position. No way they tinker with him this year, they're going to let him focus on getting healthy and getting back into a routine at SS
Desmond looked awkward in rhe OF at first also. I am sure when Odubel Herrera switched to the OF he looked awkward at first as well. And apparently we forget how awkward he looked playing LF in small sample, I just can't see CF even being a remote option

AJ has options left. We will not lose him. He is ours in minors or bigs
This.
Gosselin: Nomar Mazara is looking more and more like Mike Trout with every swing | SportsDay
I like Maz.... but come on... really?
That's good to know but if he keeps pitching like this I think Perez could be the one to keep working on his stuff at RR as he will be in the rotation at some point again.AJ has options left. We Weill not lose him. He is ours in minors or bigs
They let Herrera go because of depth in the infield. They didn't think very strongly about him playing CF or he would be here and they would have never needed DeShields.Profar could play a lot of positions but I am looking forward to a guy who has sweeping range, plus sped , a plus arm and who can climb the wall in CF. Profars best value is not there. Makes me think they may have not let Herrera go if they did not have such minor league depth in CF
We wouldn't lose him to another team. What we would lose is the difference between him and whoever is our 5th starter. That difference could be a deciding factor on going to the postseason or not.AJ has options left. We Weill not lose him. He is ours in minors or bigs

Actually both those guys have looked far more natural in the OF than Profar did at any point
Profar to CF in the way you are talking about makes little to zero sense, especially if you aren't talking about a long term move and its just a stop gap
Profar played 4 games in LF in the middle of a season to start his time there and he was only 20 years old. He had 34 innings and 48 chances. The two guys I mentioned began before the season started. They did look awkward when they started playing in the OF. They got to get their awkwardness out of the way before the season started.Actually both those guys have looked far more natural in the OF than Profar did at any point

I don't think Profar ever had a ball bounce off of his head the way Desmond did and he didn't have the luxury of preparing in Spring Training. Every player transitioning to the outfield will look awkward in their first 34 innings and 8 chance.
