You're joking right? Try more like 5-6 years at 140 million+.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Rangers try to buy out his last year before coming a FA as a show of good faith and appreciation. Then offer him 7 years at $145.

How's that strike ya?

I jump all over it if that buys out his last year of his deal.

His English is okay, understandable, but probably makes an impromptu interview a little difficult. Maybe if he pitches a complete game 7 shutout in the World Series.

Look at what Greinke and Tanka got. Look what Kershaw just got. It's going to take 100 mil minimum at 5 years, and that's with a hometown discount.

Yes, but the only guy who deserved that much was Kershaw. I understand that players are getting paid more and more these days, but alot of the mega contracts we see are happening when that player is a FA, when teams are trying to outbid each other. There is alot more negotiating power when a guy is still under contract. That being said, the Rangers invested almost 111 million (if you include the posting bid) when they first got Darvish. If they were willing to pay that much then, they most certainly are ready to pay him whatever he wants now. I personally don't see the numbers climbing past 140 unless the contract is 7 years, but I think this is something we will have to watch play out

RW seemed more than a little peeved about the misplay in RF in his post game comment. After he was asked about the play, he answered, "I thought it should have been caught."

Then there was 3 seconds of silence before the next question.

I'm thinking Alex is getting his ass chewed on right about now.

I'm thinking not. Alex knows he fucked up. If anything he's telling Yu he'll make up for it.

Well....I stand corrected.

Rios just got through standing in front of the cameras and admitted it was his ball, his call and he deserved the error.

Then he would be going elsewhere

He's going to be getting 25+ million a year somewhere

Exactly. And that might, might be enough to get him to not test free agency.

If that's the kind of money he is commanding then we would roll with it. We aren't talking about trying to outbid other teams for him- we are talking about negotiating while he is still under contract. Also, my offers aren't set in stone. I want to keep this guy as much as anyone, but if we were going to shell out 125-140+ mil, we might as well give him 7 years

With pitchers, I'd rather pay a little more per year and take a year or two less. I felt the same way about choo but it took 7 years.

I think you're damn close.

JD will probably let this season play out, see what's what, and then make a run at him by buying out his 2017/18 season (which ever it is), offer him 7 years, at $145-55 and see if this is a good offer or just a starting point.

I don't think that's where they start. I think they start around 20 million per, and end around 25 million per, maybe a tad more.
