Good chance Soto re-signs IMO.

Yeah I agree and he likely would be too much either. Wouldn't mind Kurt Suzuki either. Definitely think there is room to make the offer and agree it needs to be done.

In other news I read that Profar could return at the beginning of next month. That would be huge. He's supposed to be the DH in Arizona in 2 days

I don't think Chirinos will ever be our #1 catcher. Don't forget about Alfaro.

I really don't either... I think they will sign a 1 or 2 year deal with someone.

He looked healthy on the bench yesterday. He was having a big time in our 5-zip game for sure.

My hope for this young man is for him to find a position, and settle in. 2nd, SS, 3rd....not sure what he's going to be. But he's been yanked around big time.

IDK, maybe it was good for him in the maturity department. Guess we'll see.

Yeah he's had a tough time in the bigs. Just want to see a full season with him at one position. Second is his once he comes back.

Lately it seems like every time I talk bad about one of our players they make me stick my foot in my mouth the next game. So....MM has been hitting well but he only has 1 HR this year. He needs to start hitting the damn ball out of the park.

Life looked awful against the A's and CO. Then the bats showed up and I really think we could be on the verge of playing pretty good ball.

Our INF defense is going to be suspect, due to having Prince at 1st and AB being a shadow of himself at 3rd. AB is still, at times, very good, but he's not the man we've seen.

This said, our OF is looking quite good. Choo is adequate in LF, Martin is getting so much better in center, Rio's plays a pretty good RF, in spite of tonight. Choice is getting valuable exposure, and proving to be a nice addition.

Again, all-in-all, at this point in the season and under these circumstances I'll take it.

I think you need to be a little worse.

I agree......but it sure would be nice to see Odor play himself into consideration for the future over the next month plus.

As we were talking about, Profar may be our 3rd baseman in 2 years, with Odor at 2nd. Wouldn't that be a bunch of fun to see Profar at 3rd, EA @ SS, Odor @ 2nd, with Prince at first? Then we could have AB for backup at 3rd.DH, MM at 1st/COF/DH.

Hopefully part of the offensive struggles we've seen has been partly due to lack of chemistry. This is a pretty different team than even last year.

Fielder and choo in the lineup.
No Kinsler, no Soto, no Gentry, no Cruz. Our second base and catcher position has been a turnstile. Profar is out. The top of the order is so different. I know when it comes down to it, it's the hitter versus the pitcher but there is a human element of chemistry and comfort on any team.

Hopefully the chemistry is coming around and their best baseball is ahead of them. Wouldn't that be something?

Hopefully Profar develops the power you'd like to see from a third baseman.

Gallo could also be in the mix at 3rd/1st/COF. It seems they're keeping him at 3rd, for now at least.

Probably seeing the same thing we are with Beltre and hoping he develops defensively. I really ultimately see him in RF, maybe first once Prince is gone but you'd like to make use of his arm.

The HR can be so overrated IMO. As long as a guy is driving the ball - meaning hitting the ball hard into the gaps - life is good. He'll get his share of HR too. But to concentrate on the long ball is a mistake. One I think MM falls prey too. When he's at his best, he's hitting between R center and L center, with doubles type power. Then the HR comes along with it.

MM thinks this as well as me. Maybe we're both delusional.

It's strange you mention this. B/C I keep wondering why the "word is" Gallo won't be a 3rd baseman at the next level, meaning bigs, yet we keep playing him there.

But maybe, if he can hit 35+ dingers and be fair at 3rd, we'll take it. Perhaps that's all we're trying to develop him in to is a average 3rd baseman with Mike Schmidt power. Personally, I can live - quite happily - with this.

We've got Prince for a decade, at least from a contractual standpoint.

OK....this is hindsight. But I wonder now why we didn't look at Odor at 2nd, Profar at 3rd, with AB at first going forward; like in 2015/16 instead of what we've done.

Hindsight withstanding.
