Monday - Holland vs. Straily
Tuesday - Darvish vs. Milone
Wednesday - Perez vs. Parker
Thursday - Harrison vs. Blackley
On paper, I like the Rangers in 3 out of those 4 matchups (not Wednesday). Of course, we all just saw in Seattle how reliable paper matchups are in predicting results. Still, Holland and Darvish have both been red-hot and both Holland and Harrison drew weaker opposing starting pitchers.
A possible good sign for the Rangers is that Oakland hits about ten points lower and for far less power against lefties than righties. We've got 3 lefties ready to face them.
Pennington has been on fire lately, but he's only 3 of 16 lifetime against Holland.
Cespedes, Moss, Carter, and Reddick pose threats in the top half of their order, but their bottom half is extremely weak statistically speaking. I think one of the keys to this series will be the Rangers' pitchers making sure those bottom half hitters look like the .210 hitters they are instead of the clutch RBI machines they've been over the last month.
The magic number is 7, so a sweep would clinch the division and winning 3 out of 4 would put us only 1 win or 1 Oakland loss away. Even a split of the series would really put Oakland in a major hole being 4 back with only 6 to go.
