For you guys who are wanting to trade Gallo for almost any return, just because you don't want the Rangers to spend money on him, you may not get what you want just because they trade him. A trade does not keep the Rangers from pursuing him in free agency 15 months from now. I am not saying they will, but it is a possibility.

My thinking is: if he doesn't sign a contract extension now, he won't sign a FA contract in 2023. The Rangers aren't going to offer him more then, and they absolutely shouldn't, either.

What I mean is: I'm OK with the Rangers offering a team friendly extension now. And if he rejects that, then OK, nice knowing you Joey.

Even if he plays very well the rest of this year and next year, I would prefer the Rangers just move on from him.

I think he was trying to say that he didn't want to give up too much when we traded for someone. We wanted to impress the other team by our offer, but not bowl them over and give up too much.
