Chase Lee was just about ready, but CY just has no appreciation whatsoever for minor league relievers, unless they belong to another team, like Pennington.

To be honest it seems like guys who are doing well in the minors don't seem to translate that at the MLB level. We have had a number of pitchers just stink it up when they pitch for the Rangers.
From what I read Chafin has been lights out in his last 17 innings.

Yeah Chafin is a great acquisition. Of course, he would have been about 20 months ago, or 9 months ago, as well.

CY has very little affinity for his own minor league relievers, it seems. This season alone, we have traded or released Antoine Kelly, Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa, Tyler Owens, and Chase Lee. Kelly had struggled, but the rest were coming along fine.

I just think CY's achilles heel is the bullpen.

The odd thing is, this team just drafted several relief pitchers.

I imagine they will ask for more than Leiter. Try Walcott, or Teodo and Rosario plus another top 20 prospect.

I would not give up Walcott, Teodo, or Rosario for Rooker. But if Leiter were the headliner with some filler I would give it solid consideration. One drawback is trading within division can be very dicey.

Wanted Goldschmidt last year and would have liked to have seen that happen this year with the departure of Lowe happening but clearly they claim to not be spending $ because of the tv deal and luxury tax
