could they outbid Cleveland, New York Yankees or the Dodgers?I doubt that, they just didn't do well in that trade scenario...better options are probably out there considering what they gave up

Anytime the Astros overpay is great for our future.Astro fringe media and bulk of the fanbase are disgusted with what they gave in the trade
Serviceable but at best a #4 in the playoffs
Ouch for them
I think Eovaldi gets a 4-year, $90-100 million deal somewhere this offseason.3 hours to go. I suspect the Dodgers will somehow get a big time SP, probably Crochet...and defer his huge extension money. I hope the White Sox get good return but not counting on it.
Rangers? Well...I sure hope that Eovaldi has privately said he wants to come back. Because in this overinflated sellers market, he and Yates could really help restock our farm system...which needs it.
I'd say 3 years 75 mil. But his age, injury history, and the deGrom deal that has zero return right now...probably means Texas won't be that team.I think Eovaldi gets a 4-year, $90-100 million deal somewhere this offseason.
From Evan Grant:
The more I talk this out, the more difficult it becomes to see a fit that is both cost effective for Rangers and realistic. To add a bat, somebody is going to lose playing time. Who? The most likely candidate would have to be Leody Taveras at this point. That would mean moving Wyatt Langford to center field and either playing a new acquisition in left or moving Josh Smith there and playing the acquisition in a platoon with Robbie Grossman at DH. Grossman has continued to pummel left-handed pitching (a .912 OPS). So you’d essentially be looking for a left-handed, platoon bat, preferrably on an expiring contract. Michael Conforto would fit that bill, but as, mentioned here previously, he’d either cost significant dollars ($6 million remaining on his contract) or a legit prospect to get San Francisco to eat more of the salary.
Pending medical review.From Jeff Passan:
The Texas Rangers are finalizing a deal to acquire left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin from the Detroit Tigers, sources tell ESPN.
Yes...but at what cost? Hmmm...Is Chafin the end of Latz?
