The Astros lost 5-3. They left the bases loaded in the 9th.

Of the 12 games scheduled today, 3 members of the 2023 team had wins. Eovaldi, Stratton and Chapman.

I still like the lineup I posted yesterday for the rest of The season

C Heim
1B Lowe
2B Semien
3B Jung
SS Seager
LF Smith
RF Garcia
CF Langford
DH Duran

I do not think there is a player on the market that can improve this lineup. We could use one or two bench guys to replace Grossman and/or Jankowski, preferably with one of them being able to play 1B.

Bochy has said Kelly will not be Scherzer's personal catcher.

All is quite on the Ranger front. Mariners and Astros making waves.

That may be true but the demand for Kikuchi was so much higher.

Not sure why? Dude has like 4.7 era and he's just not that good. Guess they could use him out of the pen because his K numbers are ok but as a starter, I don't see how he really helps them. Sure, doesn't scream "going for it" but we will see what else they do today

Unless they decide to move a couple more expiring contracts, I don't see the Rangers pulling the trigger on anything and certainly nothing significant. I am not sure I want them to make much in the way of trades because they have not done well with that recently.

I see nothing becoming of Huff and he could play 1st DH and back up at catcher.

I agree he hasn’t pitched good as of late. He was being hyped by some of the writers but he must be filling a specific need for the Astros we don’t know about.

he was the best they could afford, and they overpaid big time to fit a starting rotation devastated by injuries.

Verlander on 15-day and probably won't see the mound before mid to late August
Christian Javier TJS done until mid-2025
Jose Urquidy 60-day IL not likely to return this season
Lance McCullers 60-day IL not likely to return this season
Luis Garcia 60-dsy

I doubt that, they just didn't do well in that trade scenario...better options are probably out there considering what they gave up
