Series Thread: Rangers Travel to Oakland for Four Games May 6-8

The Rangers enter this series only a half game behind the Mariners for first place. They also find Oakland a lot closer to them than anyone expected, thanks to the A's recent 8-2 stretch.

The teams have a scheduled double header Wednesday. Nathan Eovaldi has recently gone on the DL so they will need a pitcher to take his spot in the rotation for three or four weeks. Andrew Heaney pitches tonight. Lorenzen will pitch one of the games Wednesday. Who pitches in the other two game is unknown to all of us. I am sure CY and Bochy have it figured out, but Bochy loves secrecy, so they may not announce anything until game day. The odds-on favorites are Jack Leiter and Owen White. I suppose they could surprise us, but I doubt that will happen. The guy who pitches the best in Oakland will likely become the guy to take Eovaldi's spot until he returns, or at least until they falter in a couple of future starts.

Meanwhile, with two extremely inexperienced starters pitching for us, a split may be the best we can hope for.

I am shocked at how many on Twitter think there is no way we should consider benching or trading Leody.

I am nicer than most on this board. Not real good options until Jung and Wyatt get back

But Leody is not as good defensively as advertised. His routes are suspect and reaction time is off
I don’t expect much offensively but at least be very good defensively

I would keep him through the year but come playoffs his time has to be limited unless he some lone finds a hot streak

The man don’t walk on water. He is ok but has deficiencies and I just want a little more.

Have not said this but I wish he had a better arm even. Hard to have everything. Even Trout arm is subpar and yes less than Leody

He has hit better lately, but he has done that before. Like Odor, his hot streaks are often suddenly replaced by prolonged very cold streaks.

He is in AAA. It depends on who you ask. Bochy would say it is Knapp. Others would say Huff. Both are in AAA though. Lol

Last game a pitcher called up from the minors shut us down. Tonight a pitcher with a 5+ ERA is shutting us down. What is going on?
