Last game a pitcher called up from the minors shut us down. Tonight a pitcher with a 5+ ERA is shutting us down. What is going on?

The lack of offense is annoying. Seager not hitting is a big issue and not having Jung seems to have really had an impact.

I think Semien's last AB was what irritated me the most. Leody walks on 4 straight pitches to load the bases. Make the guy who has lost his control throw a lot of pitches so he should take the 1st pitch. Instead he swings at a pitch out of the strike zone. The one pitch down the middle of the plate he takes. He takes a pitch out of the zone and then strikes out on another pitch out of the zone. The count should have been 3-1 with the bases loaded and 1 out. Just not smart baseball.

I guess technically it will be a BP game without Robertson or Yates pitching in it. Offense needs to show up.

With Gray pitching last night and Heaney tonight as 2 of our original 3 starters we needed to win those games with our pitching influx and we did. Our pitching was really good for all 9 innings of both games.

After these next three games are done, I am afraid of the lingering effect it will have on the pen. It might be better just to call up someone to pitch who doesn't have a future here and send him out for 5 innings no matter how many pitches he throws or how many runs he gives up. Then you release him.

Maybe I am being too pessimistic, but I am no longer counting on Scherzer to be of any significant help to our rotation this year.
