There was some talk earlier about not seeing anything like the way they have played. The year I thought of was 1976. Not necessarily just pitiful hitting, but completely falling apart. After July 6, they were 44-32. They proceeded to go 4-20 for the rest of July. Including getting swept in 4 double-headers. They went from 3 games out of first to 13 games out.

That was the year that started the idea that the Rangers would always fall apart after the AS break.

It was a very bad night for Owen White last night, but he didn't give up any earned runs. He only got two outs, and he gave up 5 hits and 5 unearned runs.

It was a colossal mistake, one they absolutely couldn't afford to make.

And, the mistake was made well prior to the trade for Chapman. The trade doesn't affect the severity or the long term cost of the mistake, one bit. Had the mistake not have been made, Ragans name would not have come up in the trade talks, no more than any other top 5 prospect's name came up. Had Ragans been handled correctly in February, March and April, he would have been considered our top pitching prospect and would have been untouchable as far as trade talks go.
