He was factually wrong about Josh Smith and I believe his opinion of how much Calhoun is needed in the locker room is wrong.

Sandler is a Rangers employee though, so I can understand him saying those things and even talking himself into believing those things.

Intend to disagree about Smith but for sure have not given up on him. I have watches his abs

I thought in interesting his take on moving Adolis or Lowe for SP. He puts himself on a limb much more so than EG and he definitely did not overhype Arihara or anyone else minus maybe Kole. So even if I don’t agree he does not come Across as Company employee near as much as Ranger broadcasters

I wasn't talking about his opinions about Smith. I meant what he stated as fact was wrong.

What’s more likely??
Rangers sign Aaron Judge or the Rangers trade for first baseman Rhys Hoskins and extend him?
Moving Lowe to DH

More likely for Judge, but that is not likely.

Question for you guys; how would it affect your approach to adressing starting pitching if Otto finishes with an ERA around 4.35, Dunning finishes with an ERA around 3.90, and Ragans finishes with an ERA around 4.00 having pitched around 55-60 innings?

With offense being down a little this year and ERAs being lower than normal..those ERAs aren’t quite impressive. Ragans FIP is super high.. so is ottos.. regression is likely
I would still want an additional TORP as well as Perez.

It doesn't change my approach much because I never wanted to pursue more than one pitcher this offseason anyway. I am fine with Dunning and Otto next year, and I am open to Ragans getting a shot too. I also want to see Burke be given an opportunity to start.

They should pursue bullpen help though. If they weren't hurting so bad in the bullpen, Burke would have had a shot at getting to start this year.

If Owen White is hurt worse than we thought, then I might change my mind.

Best tools

Players are graded on a 20-80 scouting scale for future tools -- 20-30 is well below average, 40 is below average, 50 is average, 60 is above average and 70-80 is well above average. Players in parentheses have the same grade.

Hit: 60 -- Evan Carter (Josh Jung)
Power: 55 -- Josh Jung (Justin Foscue, Anthony Gutierrez, Dustin Harris)
Run: 70 -- Bubba Thompson
Arm: 60 -- Yeison Morrobel (Luisangel Acuna, Anthony Gutierrez)
Defense: 60 -- Bubba Thompson
Fastball: 70 -- Emiliano Teodo (Brock Porter)
Curveball: 60 -- Emiliano Teodo (Kumar Rocker, Ricky Vanasco, Cole Winn)
Slider: 70 -- Kumar Rocker
Changeup: 60 -- Cole Ragans (Brock Porter)
Control: 55 -- Marc Church

I think a legit BP piece should be a target this winter, but I am feeling a lot better about Hearn now that he's in the BP.

Moore/Hearn/Burke are a very strong foundation to add a piece to.

Becoming a strong World Series contender will involve not just finding good players to replace mediocre ones or bad ones. It will also include replacing good players with better ones, occasionally. Sometimes that will require gambling on a free agent or prospect to be that better player.

There is room for improvement at just about every position. It will only take a few lineup improvements to be in the wild card hunt. It will take several to go to a World Series.

Jeff Wilson doesn't mind saying it:

But should Calhoun, a high-energy veteran whose season has been filled with ups and (mostly) downs, be playing ahead of a younger player? He's playing on a one-year deal and doesn't seem to be a fit going forward, so his at-bats should probably be going to someone else.

personally, I think the Rangers are being too optimistic about their chances next year. I think it will take this offseason, next year's trade deadline, and next year's offseason (alongside the continued development of the important prospect pieces) to shape the roster into a true contender.

I agree.

So, does CY get canned when he cannot meet those lofty expectations?
