That was dumb Semien
Astros off us got 5 SB also passed ball and catcher interference. But still a win as they had 3 errors. A win is a win good for LeClerc and pen
I just followed on app and watched highlightsYeah, Huff did not looks so great tonight..
We’re the pitchers not holding runners on?
One thing to keep in mind. How many runners have you seen thrown out on the bases by our catchers all season?I think Garver is likely a better player than Huff especially keeping in mind strikeouts but if Huff lives up to his potential then that is a cheaper solutions. To me though that is a big if.
he is no Adley R.
Obviously my excitement is tempered
watched most of the game and saw 4 of the SB's that the Astros got and all 4 were stolen off the pitcher. Huff made some of them close but with the jump the runners were getting off the pitcher he had virtually no chance of throwing them outAstros off us got 5 SB also passed ball and catcher interference. Yeah that is why my earlier post was having at least once catcher on the squad who has a cannon for an arm. Maldonado was kept for that reason even as a starterOne thing to keep in mind. How many runners have you seen thrown out on the bases by our catchers all season?
and Wendzel has never been thought of as a full-time position player. that's why o see him as bench player able to play multiple positions so as to give the full-time players rest. even in minors he has played a part-time role. he would be a better part-timer than what Mathias, Miller, Ibanez and Solar have or are providingA few notes from Scott Lucas:
In his final 2022 start (assuming no unlikely final-day start on four days rest), Mitch Bratt was slightly out of form and had to endure more than one instance of "I got it, you take it" by his defensive compatriots. Nevertheless, Texas's 2021 fifth-rounder had a fine first full season, striking out 99 against 28 walks in 80.2 innings with a 2.45 ERA. On to Hickory.
A typical outing for Jack Leiter in his penultimate regular-season start. I watched a portion on MiLB.tv, and as usual was amazed by his stuff and frustrated by the actual line. The Drillers swung at 38 of his pitches and came up empty 19 times. He fanned six of 20.
He also walked three and allowed three unnervingly solid flies. One fly disappeared, one was prevented from leaving by CF Kellen Strahm, and one was corralled by RF Aaron Zavala on the track. The 1st inning encapsulated his season: six-pitch walk, two-run homer, then three strikeouts on nine pitches.
Davis Wendzel, pre-injury: .193/.281/.329, 31% SO
Davis Wendzel, post-injury: .244/.320/.544, 19% SO
A persistent issue with Wendzel is pop-ups and sky-high flyouts; he hits them at about double the rate of his teammates, about one of every four balls in play.
In his last 13 games his numbers are:Davis Wendzel, pre-injury: .193/.281/.329, 31% SO
Davis Wendzel, post-injury: .244/.320/.544, 19% SO
What to do, what to do
I don't see how he stays on the roster until the Rule 5 roster lock down. What to do, what to do
