it is difficult to envision them making the playoffs this season so to me we need to be making moves between now and the trade deadline that impact 2025. i know some only want to trade veterans for prospects that might not impact the big-league roster for 2 or 3 seasons but i'm looking at 1 or 2 veteran types coming in replacing some of ours and also bullpen arms that come here with time left or that we can sign to extensions

Would not mind a 1B and back up catcher. Also bench players since Smith will likely play daily and Duran is gone to AAA. Do something with Traveras. Not ready to trade Garcia yet but he is on a short rope.

for long range plans including 2025, Garcia, Lowe, Taveras are history in my book. that means bring in quality at 1B, OF (between Langford & Carter) and probably a catcher to back up Heim next year like Carson Kelly

Why would a team hoping to make the playoffs trade us a veteran who could be of value to us next year? Teams still in the hunt look for players like that; they do not trade them away.

And who is looking to only trade for prospects that might not impact the big league roster for 2 or 3 years? I have not seen anyone propose that.

Nothing lately.
