even so, having a healthy rotation of Darvish, Holland, Ogando, and Perez with hopefully finding a serviceable 5th starter isnt too bad. I think that could hold us til the stretch and I feel Harrison should be ready by the stretch. If he can get some rehab starts going soon and not have any problems, he could really help us hit our stride down the stretch. He has started throwing bullpen sessions so that is good news in the right direction.

The offense needs to wake up though. Or else we are gonna fade.

The Cubs have have worked to draw competing offers into the Garza bidding in order to create alternatives to Texas, tweets ESPN's Buster Olney.
I'd be surprised as hell after all of this Garza lands in Texas. :gaah:

So will I Darryl. Don't think it will happen. I agree with Romeo. JD is not going to play games in a bidding war.

yeah I dont think JD gets involved in a bidding war....I think they are looking for near ML ready talent and we just dont have much after Olt and Perez in that area. i would say we could offer Grimm, but he hasnt really helped our case, he wouldnt be a featured piece. I think we would have to give 4 guys if we go with all lower level talent. Something involving Edwards and Odor/Sardinas MIGHT get it done but im pretty sure other teams will offer pieces closer to ML ready that they would value more.

I say during the deadline next year maybe. If they aren't competing. But I think we won't overpay in prospects for him that's why won't get him most likely.

I have to disagree, the Rays dont view their trading potential in terms of buyers or sellers. they basically try to trade guys at their peak value. Price would have tremendous value during the offseason, if they wait til next trade deadline and say they are winning the division, how do you justify trading your ace at that time? sure they could wait til next offseason and a team would still have one full year of him, but that still brings his value down a good amount. He wont have a higher value than he will this coming offseason and I am willing to bet the Rays take advantage of that, not to mention his arb salary will be huge again and they dont pay for anyone......and if we have the pieces to pull off a trade for him then I think you gotta pull the trigger, there is only a handful of guys that an overpayment in prospects is justified for and he is one of those guys.

Well, we still have to the 31st. And it may take us to the last second as it did Dempster. But with so few 'sellers' we have so few options. Wish Tepesch and Grimm handled themselves better with their chances here at the end. :hope:

I'm actually suprised Texas didn't have a scout at the Peavy start. Or maybe they were who knows

@JeffWilson_FWST: Matt Harrison now thinks he can return before late-August target date. 65-pitch bullpen Monday, live BP on Wednesday. #Rangers

From the for what its worth department

If all you go out and do this trade deadline is get Norris while letting Garza go to another contender you risk losing the clubhouse
Wasn’t there a tweet or blog post recently from one of the local guys hinting that the clubhouse needed reinforcements and it would provide a huge boost to morale.

I don’t think Norris provides that boost. Garza does IMO
