@ Romeo. Is there a good in-game chat here? It seems like this format wouldn't be good for that.
I disagree. He looks bad in the OF and at the plate.

He had a 2.97 ERA before his last 2 starts when he was hurt! He is a #2 pitcher and garza is a #3 peavy put up a 3.38 ERA last year. I bet you peavy will come on strong in the second half, oh he is under control next year I think

No thanks. Guy cannot stay healthy.
Having a #1 and two #2 pitchers is pretty attractive
Peavy is not a #2. And how attractive is it when he's on the DL?
He is though
Wow, what a valid point backed up with so many facts and numbers. My mind is changed now!
How are you gonna say he is not when he put up 3.38 ERA and 2.97 before injury? And a k/9 of 8.5-9? I don't need to bring up numbers
What about peavy is so impressive to you? Is it his 4.30 ERA, his 36.7% gb percentage, the fact that he's pitched more than 112 innings once since 2009, or his increasing hr/9?
You can try and cherry pick the numbers however you want. These are the numbers and nothing about the screams #2. Not even close. He has put up a 4.30, not 3.38. He is a fly ball pitcher, has been for nearly three years now. You think that's going to play at rbia?
Any time someone says they don't need the numbers it means they can't use the numbers to back up their stance.
Hey man if it was holland you would be saying he is a #2 before those 2 starts lol. And I don't care about fly balls. If you are a fly ball pitcher doesn't mean you are a terrible pitcher
The Rangers' offensive woes this season lie squarely between their ears. The lack of offense is entirely a mental thing. The physical talent is there. Look at last night for example. 9 hits. 9 hits should win almost every time. But stupid mistakes in baserunning and in the field cost them. So did the lack of clutch hitting with RISP. Those are both mental areas. As you've all seen and noted, the Rangers' hitting just disappears with RISP. It's like they become different people when they see a guy on 2nd or 3rd. They swing at awful pitches. They don't hit to the right side. Their at-bats are pitiful and their approach is too. It's entirely mental because they often look quite different with no runners on base. Look at the careless mistakes they're making running the bases and in the field too. They're just giving away runs and games. It's like Romeo said- it's not that they're losing, but how they are losing. And it's like a virus running throughout the team that no one is immune to. Even Beltre, still being the awesome monster he is, seems as though he's been more prone to casual errors at 3B and weaker at-bats this season.
I'm posting this in the trade thread because I don't think there is a bat out there who could solve this problem. Even if we acquire someone, let's say Rios, and he comes here and mashes, the baserunning errors and poor hitting with RISP will still be an issue with others. I'm not saying don't trade for a bat. It would still help and is needed. But a lot of what is causing this team to put up low run totals is just a complete lack of focus and poor attention to detail when it matters most. There have been way too many games this season where "how did we lose that one", "you have got to be kidding me", and face palm icons have been featured prominently throughout the game day threads. They are better than they are showing. If we had a real manager capable of whipping this team into shape and stressing focus, discipline, and fundamentals instead just being a cheerleader and best friend, maybe so many of these face palm moments wouldn't be happening and the team would rank higher than next to last with RISP. Maybe Bosley, Coolbaugh, and Magadan weren't/aren't the problem.
If you understood park dynamics and their effects on pitching you'd care. Fly ball pitchers are not good for rbia. And no, I wouldn't be calling him a #2 if he had those numbers. Sorry, but the numbers don't back you up.
The mystery team was the Cards.
