4:45PM: Girardi’s deal includes a full no-move clause in the first three-years and a modified no-trade clause in the final three-years. [ame="http://twitter.com/Real_ESPNLeBrun/status/439516637167767552"](Pierre LeBrun) [/ame]

He probably would have gotten something similar on the open market. One less D available between now & March 5th trade deadline.

I'm really interested to see what happens with St. Louis. He's put Yzerman in a tough spot, which is fine by me.

That's why the modified NTC after the third year is key. Gives us an opt out of his contract so we can move him. This is an excellent deal.

He would have gotten more on the market most likely. Probably closer to 6.5M a season.

That's nuts. I know the cap is going up, but teams have to be smart at some point. If Callahan gets 7m per from some team they're going to regret it.

It's crazy, but teams are getting it. Same way AMac will get nearly 5M on the free agent market, much like Matt Carle did when he left the Flyers for the Lightning.

5:46PM: Girardi’s no-move clause kicks in now even though the extension doesn’t start until July 1. That is a new part of the CBA if both sides want to do that. ([ame="http://twitter.com/Real_ESPNLeBrun/status/439531961321660416"]LeBrun[/ame])

5:03PM: “Dan has been a Ranger for his entire career, signing with us as an undrafted free agent and working his way to become a top defenseman in the NHL. “His dedication to this club, as a leader both on the ice and in the locker room, is invaluable to this team. We are happy to have been able to ensure that he will continue to wear the Blueshirt.” (Glen Sather in the Rangers press release)
