You think they would bite at:
Acuna
Foscue
Bradford
Saggese

I’m afraid they would counter with Porter instead of Bradford and might want Duran instead of Foscue.

Would you do?:
Acuna
Duran
Porter
Saggese

That’s steep.
No, I don't think so.

Does losing another key cog, in Heim, change anyone's mind about going for it all this year?

Guess it’s time for Huff to show us if he’s an MLB catcher and hitter
Lol. I think the world comes to an end if Bochy plays Huff more than once every 10 days, so they had better trade for a catcher.

I don’t see that I think him and Garver split the catching

Catcher market is pretty bleak.

KC - Salvador Perez would likely cost too much. Wonder if they would part with MJ Melendez. He’s a part-time catcher with adequate defense and pop in his bat (albeit with a weak OBP).

Chisox- If they go full-on fire sale, might they part with Grandal (with the newly-acquired Quero waiting in the wings)?

Oakland - yuck

Rockies - Elias Diaz? Probably not available.

Pirates - Henry Davis is untouchable, and the rest of their catching group sucks.

Nats - Keibert Ruiz is likely seen as part of their future.

Cubs - Yan Gomes do anything for you?

Mets - Alvarez isn’t going anywhere.

Probably best just rolling with Garver and Huff and praying that Heim can grit it out for the remainder of the season with pain management. I don’t see any catcher available who is that much better than Garver or Huff.

I guess that takes Huff's name off of the list of players available to trade then.

It changes the shopping list but by no means does it change my mind about going for it. I still believe the offense has more than enough firepower to keep putting up points. A couple of good- to really good relievers plus at least one really good SP (also another good bat would help) and this team is every bit as good as Tampa, Baltimore, Houston, ect. The postseason is always unpredictable but this team has about as good a shot as any.

Unless Chicago is willing to send us Grandal along with Cease. But I don’t know if I can stomach watching Grandal coming up to bat with the bases loaded and watching him take 6 pitches in a row. Seriously. He takes more pitches than any other MLB player. It’s infuriating. Unless he gets the exact pitch he’s looking for, he takes, strikeouts be damned.

Heck, this just might be Huff's time to shine.

From mlbtraderumors.com about the Rangers catching situation:

Austin Hedges of the Pirates would be an obvious candidate as an impending free agent on a struggling Pirates club, and he has already reportedly drawn trade interest. He’s a poor hitter but is generally considered an excellent defender. The White Sox are busily selling and could move Yasmani Grandal, though he’s making $18.25MM this year. Joey Bart seems to have been leapfrogged by Patrick Bailey and Blake Sabol in San Francisco. He’s in his final option year and will be out of options next year, which perhaps makes him disposable to the Giants in the long-term but useful to the Rangers in the short-term. The Mets are rolling with rookie Francisco Álvarez and could perhaps part with Omar Narváez or Tomás Nido. Victor Caratini is stuck behind William Contreras in Milwaukee and has garnered trade interest. Iván Herrera seems to be blocked in St. Louis by Willson Contreras and Andrew Knizner.

BIG no to Austin Hedges. We’ve already been down that “defensive specialist” road before with Jeff Mathis. NO.

Grandal and Caratini are the only 2 bats on that list who might… might… be worth trading for if the cost was low enough. Pretty uninspiring, though.

I hope to see Huff get a chance to prove if he is MLB material or not. He can hit with power but can't seating on the bench.

I wonder if losing some offense will cause the Rangers to consider bringing up one of the AAA or AA guys to plug into the lineup.

What if Foscue, Crim, or Saggese could help us this year?

Could. I'd like to see Foscue in particular get a shot. He's the most MLB-ready, right? He could DH and provide a quality bat to hopefully offset the loss of Heim's offense.
