Another lifeless performance by the offense. Playing at home does not even matter
i feel for the starting pitching. the team needs to get them to teams that want to win. the position players have quit. Garcia and Semien need to be put on outright waivers right now

From Jamey Newberg:

  • Through 120 games in 2023, the Rangers offense had an OPS of .807 (.273/.342/.464 slash line)
  • Over the remaining 42 regular-season games that year, the OPS was .739 (234./322./417)
  • In 2024: a .686 OPS (.238/.305/.380), 23rd best in baseball
  • In 2025: a .650 OPS (.223/.286/.364), 27th best in baseball
That’s a heck of a trend over a heck of a sample.

Some of Jamey Newberg 's thought on potentially becoming sellers:

The Lowe-Burger sequence is the one that I think we need to focus on right now, and the prototype that I’m sure Young and Fenstermaker are thinking about a lot. Nobody would dispute that many among the Rangers’ core are on the wrong side of their prime years, or that the farm system is light on potential impact, especially on the position player side. Alejandro Osuna has had an exciting two years and has forced his way into the picture, but even on the positive end of the range of outcomes he’s going to have some platoon risk and questions as to whether he will slug enough to play everyday on a corner.

You never decide to break up a big-league club just to fortify a farm system (the 1997 Marlins notwithstanding) — and it’s not necessarily good business to ride out a declining roster just because you’re flush in high-end prospects.

But what about when the two components are both experiencing a downturn? Is there an opportunity here, as distasteful as it might be in the moment — think back to how disappointed you might have been when Mark Teixeira and Joey Gallo were shipped off — to inject the top of the system with high-end young talent to build around specific pieces of the current core moving forward, and not letting this window slam shut for good?

It’s too early to make that decision. It’s not too early to think about it.

I feel the same way you do about the position players except for a few. I just don't see the fight in this team.Smith needs to make some adjustments because pitchers have adjusted to him

the senior players have not shown one iota of leadership to the younger players and the younger guys' performances are starting to reflect the same dullness. the Rangers need to isolate Semien and Garcia from them initially and for an extended period. and several others may have to be moved on from

The cheerleaders on Twitter are still waving their pom pons, and refusing to acknowledge any fault in CY and Bochy.

I just read the Evan Grant article regarding the workload of Degrom, Eovaldi and Mahle.
I couldn't believe the number of IP these 3 are on pace for.
It sounds like the Ranger brass are aware of this and will adjust accordingly. With Degrom turning 37 soon and Nate being 35 you have to wonder how much longer will see these two pitching lights out they way they have.
If this offense does not turn it around soon and the team continues to lose enough where the playoffs seem very unlikely you can't but help to think if the team is considering trading some of the older assets to bring in prospects.
I am not ready to give up on the season but alot of red flags are popping up.
Were a third of a way into the season and how does a team lose 11 games giving up 3 runs or less in those games?
I guess the answer is easy. Our top RBI guy is on pace to knock in 79 runs which is A.Garcia.

Rocker closing this year is not a bad idea if you are interested in winning
He has an innings limit anyways and can go back and start next year

But if you want to give up. And just wait until the ASB and trade off expiring contracts Rocker closing may not fit your formula

Marc Church is going in a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League.

Bochy has acknowledged that Jackson is no longer the primary closer, although he could be used as the closer at times.

The Rangers aren't winning many more games with a closer unless the offense becomes something it is not.

There is no guarantee Rocker would be any good as a closer. Look how much trouble Teodo is having closing.

I could say that if we were interested in winning that we would make deGrom a closer. I won't, but I or anyone else could say that.

With options, and with his latest injury, his innings limitations are easily manageable without losing over a half year of development as a starting pitcher.

CY has stated that there are NO plans to use Rocker in the closer role. he said that Rocker is only being looked at as starter in both the short and long-term

They may keep him in the minors until someone gets hurt, or at least keep him there for while.
Maybe to rehab a time or 2 but he will be used unless shut down

If Corbin and everyone one else is doing well, why not manage his innings for a few starts in the minors?

From Tepid:

Marc Church retired all 6 hitters he faced in a rehab assignment with the Arizona Complex League Rangers last night. 3Ks, all swinging. He’s still a bit erratic, but he throws harder than anyone in the Rangers bullpen currently, so fingers crossed.

The real point is you think it will hurt his starter development and also you want to be traders at the deadline

I doubt it hurts his development but we shall see.
It is surely being considered behind closed doors

Because you want your best arms in the majors if you plan on winning

Corbin will continue to start. And we will see where we stand at the break.

He is a guy we could sell or resign later
